Oh, hell yeah, my buddy added Eveready Harton too! He was hesitant, but I made my case for its importance, as well as the fact that it's animation and therefore technically not pornography anyway.

I discovered Letterboxd challenges a couple of months ago and idk how many other people have come across them but they're quite fun and especially if monthly challenges don't really do it for you. I find monthly challenges a bit too restrictive because sometimes I don't watch films for weeks/months but I like to have something to guide me. The Letterboxd challenges are user-made and generally rely on weekly prompts where you can choose any film that fits that prompt (but you don't have to watch them in order or in the actual week etc).
The 'biggest' one seems to be the Annual Letterboxd Season Challenge which just started its 2021/2022 season this week and is a nice one. I completed the 2020/2021 season last week I think. I've also been doing the Film School Dropout one and have a couple horror ones that I want to use for next month, such as Horrorx52.
Just thought I'd throw these out there in case they interest anyone else.

Interesting. Never even heard of these.
I've seen them before, but not participated. To do a shared challenge I think a slightly more social environment, like this forum, works better...
But you inspired me to make a short list there of the sort of things I would like to challenge myself with at the moment...
https://letterboxd.com/beavis/list/8x5-challenge/
all these movies are part of personal watch-lists I have been working on this year and hope to finish before the end of it (but only the tip of the iceberg)
if the list is inspiring in any way, feel free to use it to challenge yourself
and watching suggestions for these 8 subjects might be interesting to me!

I did the very first Annual LB Challenge actually. It was fun, but I remember being frustrated of having to keep films I really wanted to see for later because of it... but I was really in the starting phase of exploring the canon, it would probably not be as big a hurdle now.
I posted this and then shortly changed my username to https://letterboxd.com/Jook/... I wonder how many of you have followed the person that took my old username since then?

Who is the one who runs the iCMForum Letterboxd acct? Some of the lists on the profile are outdated now (or will become outdated very soon). Having the lists on Letterboxd is important to me because its the easiest way to find out which films are on which of my streaming services, and has more robust sorting features than iCM.

I feel like adding more forum lists to LB just because the process of adding them is so smooth.

I'm happy for someone else to help add lists/update them.
I have a few of the lists saved to my personal Letterboxd, you would just need to clone them and tidy the write-up. https://letterboxd.com/zzzorf/tag/icm-forum/lists/

Oh God, yes. I reflexively cringe every time I go to a film's page and the top reviews are inane bullshit from the Letterboxd "cool kids."Pretentious Hipster wrote: ↑November 4th, 2021, 1:20 pm This is hilarious and I'm sure many of you experienced this at least once.

So LB already has their own celebs? (In a bad way)
Seems I'm missing out big!
Seems I'm missing out big!
Not a major LB celeb or anything, but I recently found out I've had several impersonators! I'm almost the Elvis Presley of movie watching!
Someone told me he had asked a question on Reddit and mentioned my name, so I was curious and did a search, only to find out someone had pretended to be me over there a few years back. That made me search some more and it got worse. Not surprisingly as I found my name on 4chan where someone had been impersonating me for years and there were a lot of disturbing comments directed at me by people who don't know me. I can understand people not grasping my excessive viewing and it triggering them, but this went beyond that. Wish I hadn't known this. A bit creepy.

I had similar occasions when I've been a household name for certain metal and hardcore subgenres on last.fm (and some Forums) with someone stealing catchphrases or sometimes even a complete review by me, and it seriously stirred me up. Fakes and impersonators are as old as the internet.
Humans are really strange.

OTOH, how do we know that you are the real PUNQ and not an impersonator?PUNQ wrote: ↑November 4th, 2021, 2:13 pm Not a major LB celeb or anything, but I recently found out I've had several impersonators! I'm almost the Elvis Presley of movie watching!

You can tell by the bad reviews, in that get-them-done-before-the-baby-wakes-up kind of way, I'm the real deal.... or maybe I'm already a parody of myself at this point after doing this for 10 years.

Hi, all.
I imported my ICM checks to Letterboxd a week ago, and I'm logging new watches on both LB and ICM (and rating movies I've recently seen on LB). Just branching out for fun, not leaving anywhere I already am. I hope to slowly find many of you on LB and follow you.

With over 28,000 likes, it's the 10th most liked list on the site. I published it probably 8 years ago as my own personal watchlist of cult films and I still don't know how it blew up. I've periodically added more films to it and added some favorites with vibrant posters to the front to make it more eyecatching. But ultimately the list is extremely unfocused and nebulous and really serves no purpose. I guess people must like it if they keep liking it, but I've considered just deleting it many times.
People really love these massive lists in general, and "weirdo" is an appealing term to the LB userbase I guess.
My most liked list (nowhere near your numbers though
) is also my most pointless, it's just a list of films that I've seen with anti-romance elements...which is just about every other film out there. I don't know how anyone could have even found it in the first place when I've never told a single soul about it.
I'll never understand the culture around clicking like buttons, the only dozen or so lists I've "liked" are ones I know I'll go back to: https://letterboxd.com/ivan0716/likes/lists/

I'm not surprised really, I think the films fit the description pretty well, there are also quite a few hidden gems/lesser known films, so people will be eager to use such a list for film hunting. It's also pretty big, so lots to discover for pretty much everyone.TraverseTown wrote: ↑November 4th, 2021, 8:41 pm https://letterboxd.com/hamburgersplash/ ... watchlist/

But it has many assets people will like:
- big, able to filter
- some gems known
- it describes what you put it in the title: movies for weirdos
- it already exists for 8 years
and let me tell you letterboxd has a lot of weirdos out there or people who are looking / in search for an identity, are curious or just are done with the same movie over & over again shown in movie theatres.
https://letterboxd.com/lakigigar/list/underseen-gems/
Personally i think this is my best list, likes filtered on letterboxd checks somewhat, and it only has 1 like :p
Personally i think this is my best list, likes filtered on letterboxd checks somewhat, and it only has 1 like :p
And once your list is popular, it gets megapopular
Like people check lists, and your list appears in it. And guess what. It has weirdo in it. "I GOTTA LIKE THAT".
Nothing generates publicity better than publicity. It's always a fascinating and unfair circle.
You know, usually these kind of lists has at least 2 titles with 200,000 votes on IMDb and good BO revenueLakigigar wrote: ↑November 5th, 2021, 12:25 am https://letterboxd.com/lakigigar/list/underseen-gems/
