That's not a bug. There's no release date for the entry, so it cannot be imported to icm. You'll see that there's no option to rate it on imdb either because of that.

okay - thanks for explaining that - don't know that I ever picked up on that & frankly I wondered why I couldn't rate it. Will try to remember yet another rule like that for the future, but this obscure stuff just doesn't stick with me much any more

I'll see what I can find about a release date now that I know that's the issue.

Okay, it seems the film version was released in 1989 though I haven't been able to find much more information than that. However, this is actually an episode of a public television anthology series and the movie was first shown there in 2005. I'm guessing more knowledgeable users haven't had any luck dealing with this and I honestly can't be bothered trying to reason with IMDb - that's useless.

So, I'm not going to expend any more energy on this task.

Ok, this bug is a hundred years old at least and I should be too afraid to ask, but ..

The issue with the wrongly counted comments. How exactly does it happen?
Usually, the counter is off in that it shows too many comments - saying there are 2 comments at a film's page and there clearly is only one. It's mysterious.
Now, I had it the other way round. I commented on Luca on Friday and the counter displayed 0 .. until devil came to the scene - to make the comment counter rise to 1 (instead of 2).
What is all this.

ICM does not count how many checks/comments a film or user has. It increments a counter when a comment is made or a film is checked, and decreases it if a film is unchecked or comment is (self) deleted. There are some edge cases, however, where the counter doesn't increase/decrease on a change, which is what makes things go out of synch. Moderation activities are a big one, when a user is deleted their checks and comments go with it, but not the associated counters on film pages. There are few other things, like I think check on import from imdb doesn't increase the counter, at least in some cases. And there are probably other smaller bugs that only happen occasionally. I'm not sure what happened here other than something must have gone wrong when you checked and the increment function happened. Once that happens it won't fix itself.

I noticed something strange a while ago. When I check my stats (on my profile page) it says that I have one dislike. But when I click on it, it says "There doesn't seem to be anything in this list.". I think it's been like this for several months. Help?

My only guess is a film that was later deleted. Or maybe a film you accidentally disliked and undisliked too quickly for the site to correctly register it.
You've chosen not to share faves or dislikes, so I dunno.

It might be something like that.

I just made my dislikes public for a while, but don't know if it helps anyone taking care of the site.

It's not going to help me fix anything, no. Whatever the cause, your count is now off and the only way to fix it is Marijn running a count update. It might help look to see if there's any hint as to why it happened.

It has no dislikes now, though, so I don't know if it's the cause. Maybe try disliking it and then removing the dislike again? I doubt it'll fix it, though.

No, it didn't fix it. But that is strange! I have not even seen the film. I must have pressed the dislike button by accident. Damn, I guess I'm stuck with this for now.

The feed doesn't mark when you undislike a film, so it could be that when you undisliked it right after disliking it it stuck on your profile. Or it could be completely unrelated and due to a deleted or merged film.

That's probably it. When I would use the site on mobile, I used to accidentally check shit on multiple occasions by bumping the button, and although unchecking it would of course remove my check, I couldn't do anything about it being on my profile or in the news feed of my ICM friends.

Edit: I misread, you're not talking about quite the same thing. Still, the site does stuff like that occasionally.

Yeah, that's a different thing, although the underlying reason is similar. To save server processing a lot of things are done as just in time operations or pushed off into static fields which makes things more efficient to display, but it leaves trails when unexpected things happen. Instead of the feed reading off you checks and faves, dislikes etc history, it's its own thing where entries are written upon actions, but things don't get unwritten from the feed.

For the most part I think it's a good tradeoff, but there are definitely a few things that should have periodic clean up routines.

Is the problem that movies don't get imported? Maybe some flawed urls in the file?

What is it with the super-weird checking behavior of 3rd and how it messes the site? I think I've noticed before that something must be off with calculating that.
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/tom+ ... /topusers/
It looks like he somehow froze at his last activity there; he's shown at tieing rank 4 for me for Tom Vick, which matches his progress rank for that list on his own profile page, although he's not at 574 checks - which wouldn't suffice for that rank anymore - but at 0 checks, ignoring the fact he shouldn't appear there altogether?! Huh.

I feel like having seen that before, but can't remember where. :/
.. ah, of course, just sort 3rd's progress by list rank and then look at the respective top user rankings. He's there .. and he's not. Everywhere.

I've never figured out what exactly causes this, but it's something to do with the way he often deletes all his checks. I think there's some way of deleting checks that doesn't trigger the rank updater and if the person never checks films in a list afterwards this happens. It's not just 3rd that this happens with.
Let me see something, though.

I actually wanted to undark him afterwards, but apparently I can't do that. I suspect that if I were to undark him the rankings would come back correct, but I don't know.

Something similar happened to other cheaters who had their checks deleted/reset. They're basically ghosts in the rankings. Another example is "momoney" and the Korean list:

[EDIT: I'm not saying 3rd is cheating, I should've phrased that better.]

Sometimes it works after a few seconds, sometimes the wheel is spinning forever over the check box without effect, sometimes it marks it is checked but if you reload the page it is not... You always need to reload the page to ensure it is checked or try again.

Uploading/updating lists is also one of the most cumbersome bug: only uploading a csv file with imdb links has a chance to work, all other options will always get me to "this page is unavailable, we have been notified".

Thanks for coordinating this... fingers crossed...
The check box issue is back for me after a few good months...

What time of day is it happening? (Multiple instances would be helpful.)
