Goal:
Watch as many movies from the 1970s as possible.

Rules:
- A feature film (Anything 40 minutes or over) counts as one entry
- A total of 90 minutes of short films count as one entry
- For Mini-Series (40 minute episodes or longer) each episode counts as an entry.
- For Mini-Series with shorter episodes, the 90 minute rule applies.
- No rewatches

Ok I will take part. Small target of 8 focussing on films on four offical lists. I will do more if I can.

Sure! I might see a couple have no plans, except to see one of the Hababam sinifi movies. So I have a pretty good plan.

On my watchlist (containing all the films I have on my computer/shelves that I haven't watched), I count 31 films from the 70s, so I'll try and get through half of them. Mostly seems to be Fassbinder, Chabrol and samurai flicks..

I'm in! This is actually going to be my "main" challenge this month, because decade-wise, this is where my largest number of viewing gaps hang out, and I've been looking forward to filling in just a little more of that black hole. (The '60s is probably runner-up in that department.) Shooting for 30.

Very long over long documentary style Italian film, but its one of the films on 4 official lists I wanted to see.

Nice scuzzy little crime film, featuring the always great Robert Mitchum as one of those complete losers in life. The ageing criminal who never managed to retire to Florida like all his contemporaries.

2. Lady Snowblood: Blizzard from the Netherworld (Fujita, 1973) 6/10

If I didn't know already, I would have quickly seen that this was big influence for Kill Bill. It's an enjoyable enough vengeance tale, with some stylish touches. Little bit too simplistic in characters/plot, but that's par for the genre.

Fascinating look at an obviously drugged out, yet still wonderful, David Bowie. I had seen parts of this in other David Bowie docs, but I'm so glad I got to see this.

01. Let's Scare Jessica to Death -- Hancock, 1971.

You'd think people would know to avoid Connecticut farmhouses by now. This is a sort of New Hollywood version of a horror film -- like the Two-Lane Blacktop of horror films, with the major distinction that Two-Lane Blacktop is actually a really great film, while this film is just...meandering and low-key and...whatever. Jessica (Zohra Lampert) has been released from a mental institution after a breakdown; of course the place to regain one's sanity is an old Connecticut farmhouse with a scary legend about former locals. The "horror" component is largely psychological -- like The Innocents, with the major distinction that The Innocents is actually a really great film, while...oh. Well, then. The viewer gets to spend lots of time wondering whether Jessica's going mad...again...or not. The performances were okay, but...I kept wishing I was watching The Innocents or Two-Lane Blacktop.

If they are not available, I'm gonna translate each and every line of the only available Turkish subtitle or I'm gonna assume my own story. either way, I'm definitely watching this movie..

Granted, it's not for everyone and not an easy viewing, I believe I rated it 6/10, certainly not among my favorites, but at least the acting was solid.
