I like the film, but I have mixed feelings about it. The ending is so abrupt. You can either imagine the characters' lives will get better or it gets worse. Some scenes felt unrealistic with its stereotypical dialogue/situation and flat acting, but other times it feels very real and has good acting. Also, the song Heat Wave is played a few times in the background (l)

A perfect slice of American naturalism. There's not a false note in the whole movie. A great achievement.
