That doesn't mean round 2 of country selections start. Maybe not everyone has been here in the first 24 hours. If we haven't reached 32 at 16:37 this afternoon, I'd suggest to leave signing up open for another 24 hours for people's first pick. If we haven't reached 32 by then, there'll be another 24 hours for people to pick a second country (which would certainly result in a vote about which of those will be selected).

With only 9 slots left and several people who didn't choose yet, I wouldn't be surprised to hit 32 before this afternoon's deadline.

I already received the title of the first movie. For people who are new to this: your selection of a movie should be submitted in secret by a PM to me. Nobody but me knows which countries are in one group (unlike a soccer world cup) and which movies are selected. That will all be revealed after the submission-deadline (which is not set yet).

- I am thinking about 3 films in particular

- Film #1 may or may not be available online (maybe without subs)

Based on the information that I have provided above, which country would you guys recommend that I pick? I have around 4 hours left to decide.

I could actually easily come up with a third film for Russia and Canada too, though in both cases it is not one that I would expect to have much chance of winning.

Israel seems a logical pick as a country infrequently run in the World Cup. I would need help, however, to locate a subbed version of my #1 draft pick. Also, I am less passionate about my Israeli selections than my films for other the regions. In terms of passion, I probably feel most passionate about the virtues of my Canadian and Russian potential nominees.

P.S.: Will give it another couple of hours, but it looks like there is more interest for me to nominate Israel than any other area... so far.

Grr... 24 hour deadline fast approaching and nobody has managed to narrow down anything for me by selecting one of my five final countries.

I've been thinking about, and I don't think I should really go for Israel if I can't locate a subbed copy of my #1 draft pick film online. Seems a bit irresponsible to nominate it and ask others to scour for it. Same goes for Russia with my second film that I can't find subs for.

That leaves me with Portugal (but many users have already seen my only pick), Canada and the Netherlands. A hard choice, but I only have two in mind for the Netherlands, whereas I have seen an extensive variety of Canadian films -- were my pick successful enough to go the whole way.

So, please put me down for Canada. Seen tons of great Canadian films through winning two Official Challenges for the country after all.

I had a lot of fun managing Portugal last year, though I didn't make a very good job out of it; I was waiting to see if someone else was going to take it, but since sol went with Canada and nobody else has expressed any interest (and with the risk of not having 32 managers), I'll be happy to manage again.

I've taken a list of Belgian films and I really can't say I'm enthousiastic about the movies I've seen with less than 1000 checks other than 1 of Van Dormael.

Might be a stupid question but how can I see what movies have already been played in the first 3 seasons or would I need to go manually through the matchups ?

EDIT: not gonna take a country since all movies I've seen have already been nominated before.

Not everything - I’m having the flu right now, so I went to bed early and woke up in the middle of the night, and now I can’t sleep.
Apart from that, yes, thanks, life has been quite good to me.
I’ve just been very busy with family, work and friends, and I’ve been picking up reading again, which has been taking most of my spare time instead of watching films. I guess I’ll have to change that now.

So I was just taking a look at my options for Georgia once I make it past the first two rounds so I thought I better make sure I didn't look at the movies used the other two times the country has particapated. The one thing that occurred to me is how I never even considered movies before the countries independence from the Soviet Union, so hopefully my approach this allows a better showing then my predecessors.
