Opinions on the move to phpBB

#1

Post by AdamH » July 14th, 2019, 12:18 pm

Now that it's been some time since we made the move from Zetaboards, I'm interested in hearing opinions on how people have found phpBB compared to Zeta.

For me personally, my laptop broke last year and I didn't replace it so I only really go on the forum on my phone and the improvement in terms of mobile view has been massive (as Zeta had no mobile version).

Oh yeah - the forum is far easier to read on mobile devices now.

I am generally very happy with the new forum. There are things that I miss (status under the avatars; multiple polls in the one thread) but overall the site functions very well and the alerts are excellent.

Honestly? No complaints.

Yeah, I mean, I don't even really remember the old boards. This setup does everything I want/need it to do.

Pretty much echo what everyone has said. I like the new boards and I've pretty much forgotten the old one, which I think is a pretty positive thing. I browse mostly on my phone too and I used to find the one olds really clunky and mis-clicked all the damn time, but I find this one a lot nicer to use.

Yeah, it's better, especially on mobile as others have mentioned. I really like the mobile version.

We talked about it for years so I'm really glad we did it. It actually turned out so much better than I expected and I don't think we had too many problems during the move. Thanks a lot to everyone who contributed.

This is my old go-to forum software, so really happy with the move. It looks and feels better/more stable than the old forum.
Also happy with the mobile layout. Even though there were "options" on the old forum, none of the were very good.

Kudos!

No complaints from me either. Look, feel, functions are all A-okay.

The only thing I miss here from the old forum is, filtering a thread by the users. Previously the number of replies in the Topics page, would have the hyperlink to see who posted how much and that would in turn have the hyperlink to their posts alone in that thread. I miss that feature here
