I'm sure that would make it infinitely better, but I wasn't sure if it's cheating to make a crappy movie entertaining through outside means.

Decent family drama that got trashed for no good reason.
I liked this one quite a lot (7.5/10). Simple and poignant and with a humanity to the performances that won me over. I'm rather shocked to find out that it has such an unfairly low score on IMDb! There's a touching, unassuming warmth and kindness to the film and its concerns.

Nice to see the mention of it here.

Sometimes that's the only way to endure them. Plus Rifftrax doesn't edit down the movie like MST3K does. It's more just a funny audio commentary.

An overly convoluted crime thriller. Who exactly the title character is meant to be is left vague throughout, as well as why everyone wants his services. It does not help that Michael Latimer is pretty bland in the role too. Also, for someone described as a "man of violence", we see relatively little of this. Over three quarters of the film simply consists of characters standing around and talking. The scattered action scenes are memorable though - most notably, a grisly bit in which a man is crushed by mechanical equipment. The bleak ending and final showdown are decent too, but this generally sucks.

Wasn’t planning on participating, but since I watched two movies yesterday that fits; why not.

1. Public Access (1993) 5.2
2. Laser Mission (1989) 3.5

Laser Mission was okay. Mostly because of the music. Knopfler

1. Blood Feast (Walz, 2016) 4.9 on IMDb 2/10
2. Soul Survivors (Carpenter, 2001) 3.9 on IMDb 2/10
3. Piranha Part Two: The Spawning / Piranha II: Flying Killers (Cameron-Assonitis, 1981) 3.6 on IMDb 3/10
4. Hellboy (Marshall, 2019) 5.3 on IMDb 4/10
5. Eskimo Nell (Campbell, 1975) 4.8 on IMDb 3/10
6. Robin Hood (Bathurst, 2018) 5.3 on IMDb 2/10
7. Witchcraft (Spera, 1988) 3.1 on IMDb
A similar story to Rosemary's Baby, but with the look and feel of the worst kind of daytime soap opera. Padded with endless scenes of the main character wandering around a house in a nightie. Almost nothing happens in this.
2/10

Image

8. Dracula III: Legacy (Lussier, 2005) 4.7 on IMDb
The last and weakest of the underperforming Dracula 2000 franchise. The plot is a real mess in this one, with a make-it-up-as-you-go-along feel. Jason Scott Lee's vampire-hunting priest and his annoying sidekick wander between badly-staged confrontations with Romanian rebels and vampires before Dracula (now played by Rutger Hauer) finally turns up for fifteen minutes at the end of the film and gets a stupid death. Other notably bad ingredients include 90s music video effects that permeate every scene and a cliffhanger for future sequels that never arrived.
3/10

Yes, Spice World is a guilty pleasure. Just like Robo-C.H.I.C. They know it's camp, so they just have fun with what they got.

If you take it seriously it's bad, but you're not supposed to. They make fun of their nicknames and the stereotypes. Some might like it as that in a way also makes fun of their fans.

I even saw it in cinema.

I saw it in the theatre twice, I'll defend it as being very underrated. No it's not great but it shows up on some lists of worst movies ever and that's just crazy.

Yeah, I read Roger Ebert's review (published in his "I hated, hated, hated this movie" book). He compares the movie to the Beatles' Hard Day's Night, but then his review seems to focus on comparing the Spice Girls to the Beatles and commenting on how much they fell short.

I imagine plenty of others made the same mistake of taking their opinion of the music or group and assigning it to the movie. But really, objectively, it's not a bad movie.

This notorious Video Nasty seems pretty tame some forty years on. It is over 30 minutes in before we see any murderous drill action, and while some of the more drawn out slayings (a drunk trying to spark a conversation with him on the street) carry some morbid black humour, most of the kills are too brief. The film almost clicks as a character study though, Joe Delia's disquieting music is great and the ambiguous ending works very well.

It didn't make a lot of sense, but it did highlight just how old he's gotten, because all his action scenes were off(ish)-screen, so you didn't actually see him do the action.

It's like with the Justin Bieber documentaries. All of them are eligible for this challenge, but they have downvoted the music and the person not the actual documentary

This Marvel adaptation has gained a negative reputation over time, but it is actually quite fun if one gets over the lifeless duck/human romance awkwardly inserted in and unconvincing special effects. Many of the dialogue exchanges are pretty good (especially between Howard and Tim Robbins) and Jeffrey Jones has a delightful turn as he becomes possessed with some hilarious exchanges at a diner. The biggest issue is that the film feels too PG-13; it is at its most daring with the more adult jokes and I would have have preferred for the filmmakers to go down the X-rated Fritz the Cat route.

2. La battaglia di Maratona (1959) - IMDB: 5.1/10 - Me: 4/10

Fun fact about this film: Director of photography Mario Bava was called to step in as director (uncredited) to finish the film, as Jacques Tourneur did not wish to extend his ten month contract. Galatea Film decided to reward Bava by giving him a chance to develop his own project as a solo director, La maschera del demonio (1960).

Where do we stand on movies with no IMDb rating? Do they count as below the rating threshold? Then the next question would be silent movies where only around 30 minutes but were full length approx 90 minutes movies originally, do I need to join these together as shorts or do they count as full movies?

I believe albajos mentioned this elsewhere, but it has to have an IMDB rating for it to count - no rating is just missing data. You'll have to wait for it to get 5 ratings so you can see if the average is 5.4 or below.

And on the second question, it's a straight 60-minute threshold. So you'd need to string together 60 minutes of films to count.

This horror flick benefits from a nifty central idea and while the film is slow to warm up, the vampire bordello scenes are terrific with imaginative costumes, creative sets (see above) and lots of gory practical effects. The special effects are actually awesome throughout (especially a sunlight burning) and while relatively little screen time is sadly dedicated to debauchery in the bordello, the film is at least frequently funny.

Did anyone discover a great film yet?
I just did. :D I can only assume that the 2006 remake of Black Christmas has a low IMDb rating due to fans of the original disliking the quite massive deviations from the original story and it how it was told. Directed by Glen Morgan and produced by James Wong (of X Files fame) though, the film is a wonderfully darkly comic reimagining of the story with several great memorable lines.
And let me add Bordello of Blood as the second (relatively) great film that I have seen so far in this Challenge. These are the only two movies that I have rated higher than a 6/10 on IMDb so far. Hope to find a few more!

30. Sinbad of the Seven Seas (Enzo G. Castellari, Luigi Cozzi-1989) 85 checks {4.4 / 1,291 votes}
Wow. A must for so-bad-it's-good movie get-togethers. Taken from a Edgar Allan Poe collection of Sinbad stories (so it says, but not really), it's colorful and full of energy and the acting is so cheesy (Lou Ferrigno as Sinbad). The directing decisions are just so crazy. In scenes where they obviously shot dialogue, a narration is inserted describing literally the thing happening. Not a good movie, but I'm glad I watched it.

Exactly what you would expect with a title like that, this Troma movie depicts the chaos that ensues when some hillbillies mistake a barrel of nuclear waste for moonshine. Shot on video, the film often looks ugly with too many camcorder special effects. With seemingly all of the mere $10,000 budget spent on gore effects though, the zombie attacks actually look decent, some (not all) of the dark humour works and the banjo song soundtrack is great.

With burglars and a lost cat it's been a very typical summer. Not much movies seen this week though
52. Robinson Crusoe (2016) Belgium | France 114 checks [5.4 rating / 5 086 votes] [double]
53. Air Buddies (2006) USA 429 checks [5.0 rating / 2 965 votes]
While the original Air Bud movies are cute, the one with basketball is actually good even, but this is just cheap and terrible. With criminals so stupid it's strange they even manage to get dressed in the morning. And yes, the dogs talk now, and it's as unnatural as one would expect.
54. Slender Man (2018) USA 236 checks [3.5 rating / 20 418 votes - bottom 100: #48]

And today
55. Show Dogs (2018) USA | UK 34 checks [3.7 rating / 3 503 votes] [double]
You can understand that Air Buddies look cheap as a straight to video release, but that Show Dogs, a wide theatrical release looks just as cheap. Has Will Arnett been in any good movies outside of his voice work at all?
56. Our Lips Are Sealed (2000) USA | Australia 731 checks [5.2 rating / 4 230 votes]
Olsen twins again. But this is an infinite rimes better than the one I saw as 36th. They are in a withness protection programme, but as they break the 4th wall constantly the tension is all gone. It's all for fun.
The most interesting thing about this movie is that Jason Clarke actual became a A-list actor in the states after this. (It took a decade, but still still)
57. A Talking Pony!?! (2013) USA 5 checks [2.8 rating / 122 votes]
More David DeCoteau. "A Talking Cat" is amazing. This - not so much.
58. Peak Experience (2003) USA 1 check [3.5 rating / 101 votes]
Soap opera, both in production value and plot. It's looks so much better when they're outside though.
59. Tarzan, the Ape Man (1981) USA 189 checks [3.3 rating / 4 861 votes]
This is really "Jane Parker, the Virgin Woman". A typical Bo + John Derek fare.
60. Endless Love (1981) USA 1262 checks [4.8 rating / 6 475 votes]
Both of these two was nominated for Worst Picture Razzie in 1981. But the probably the best Razzie winner of all time; Mommie Dearest; won that year. So one of these two should have won. Endless Love is extremely weird. Mad because of love, house burning, creepy mom, death, young Tom Cruise.
