Three hours left. 30 votes so far. The normal votecount the last few matches is 34, so maybe a few more?

Not from me. I had a few interesting books and couldn’t motivate myself. Sorry, managers.

The match is over. USA wins. Congratulations to filmbantha. Also thanks to Mochard for his pick and the 31 people who voted this match.

Ante Peterlić was actually the most celebrated film critic in Croatia; I know a few people who basically worship him and even I own one of his books.

But yes, I agree the film is quite boring and mediocre, almost a 1/5 for me. It's a typical amateur production and nothing special in the slightest bit. I've actually heard several people say it's one of the best Croatian films, which is kinda... sad, lol.

Mochard watched enough gems before to pick a better entry, yet he chose the first thing he put his hand onto when the 2nd/3rd round started. He even went in descending order from No.1 to No.20 from that "best of" list, but he still took the latest film he watched (which is much lower on the rankings).

Sure, but in this competition one film decides ALOT. Had Mochard chose The Girl and the Oak, it would be very difficult to beat it considering the fact many American classics are over 1000 checks + Euro 50s-60s b/w dramas are highly valued anyway.

It's not like TEAM, it's more like SINGLES. Germany often wins football tournaments because 11 people are in the game, which requires quality on so many positions; the smaller the sport is, the less population size plays part. IMO Lithuania could never be a basketball powerhouse if teams had consisted of 7-9 players. Know what I mean?

Ivo Škrabalo is more popular I think. He didn't make any movies, though.

So it's more like tennis than teamsports. ;) One great player can win even if the whole country is mediocre.

I wonder how USA would have done with another draw. It would certainly have lost from Japan and I'm not sure it would have beaten Burkina Faso.

It would have won some battles with other draws also for me, but also lose some. Croatia on the other hand would have lost no matter the draw.
