2. Korhinta - 7/10
3. Das kaninchen bin ich - 6/10

I could probably switch 1 and 2 round depending on my mood. In fact I did just switch them - the above order stands.

I just did a quick count. I see what I did wrong. I only counted the gap closing in the two votes afterwards, ignoring they both beat Lebanon.

1. Körhinta (Hungary) - 7.25
2. Das Kanichen bin ich (Germany) - 7.25
3. Sous les bombes (Lebanon) - 7

I expected a lot worse from Under the Bombs after all the negative publicity. Sure, the leads' problem was looking pale in comparison with all the real life tragedies surrounding them but still it was pretty decent and the other two films were just marginally better than this.

Should really skip the next one too and maybe make sure you see the future rounds movies (granted, I can only hope they are better).

1. Körhinta (Merry-Go-Round) - 1956 - Zoltan Fabri
2. Das Kaninchen bin ich (The Rabbit is Me) - 1965 - Kurt Maetzig
3. Sous les bombes (Under the Bombs) - 2007 - Philippe Aractingi

Good match! I liked all the selections, and though none of them were previously on my radar I'm glad to have had the opportunity to see them.

I think this is the toughest round for me to rank so far.

I didn't dislike any of them, but all three seemed distant somehow, in that they never managed to fully capture my attention or my sympathies. The parallels between the two European stories too was rather uncanny.

1. Germany - 7.4 - I didn't care for the voice over, second half better than first half.
2. Hungary - 7.4 - First half better than second half, but damn, that dance scene.
3. Lebanon - 7.2 (almost 7.4) - If you'd told me this was a documentary at times I might have believed you (without the hotel subplot).

Maybe on another day I'd rank them differently, but this is how it stands today.

30 minutes! Seems like too much to make up for Hungary now (2-3 votes needed). Hopefully the winner wins by more than 1 vote.

By the way, I think this might be the first time that every manager voted for the winner in a >2way match! Sounds unique. Especially considering the film was not that strong and barely even won. Would have been funny had it lost.

Wow, that was pretty close! Sad to see the number of votes dropping, if it continue doing so maybe a year break from the World Cup would be good after this one. A gap year could open up for a shorter, smaller regional/genre cup for those who want to do that.

We had a gap of 9.5 months between the end of season 2 and the start of season 3. I don't think 1 year compared to 9.5 months would make any difference. At least we'll take some months off after this season and when we start thinking about season 4, we'll have polls and discussions to see how much interest there is and in which format.

Season 1 even had a group with 20 votes only. That was the overall nadir.
