iCM Forum World Cup - season 3 - manager sign-up thread

Welcome to the iCM Forum World Cup! This is a tournament where we start with 48 countries, and they get eliminated until one country wins. There are 5 rounds and each round the winning films get replaced with other films from the same country. In this thread you can sign up to be a manager. Managers pick the films to represent their country. The World Cup lasts over a year, so please only sign up as a manager if you plan to stick around on this forum.

These managers get first pick because they reached the quarter finals of the 2nd season of the World Cup:

They've got three days to pick one country. When they've made their choice (or the deadline for that passes), any other forum member is allowed to pick one country as well (I'll set a deadline for that later). After that there'll probably be another round for everyone to pick a second country until we reach 48 countries.

- It's allowed to vote blank for some countries, but preferably not.

How is the tournament going to be this season?
Round 1:
48 countries will be divided into 12 groups of 4 countries. #1 and #2 from each group proceed. Each match lasts for 4 weeks. Matches overlap 1.5 weeks.
Round 2:
24 countries will be divided into 8 groups of 3 countries. #1 from each group proceeds. Each match lasts for 3 week. Matches overlap 1 week.
Quarter finals, semi finals and final:
Countries compete one on one. Winner proceeds. Each match lasts for 2 weeks. Matches overlap 0.5 weeks.

Which movies are eligible?
- Less than 1000 checks (at the moment the movie is picked).
- Maximum runtime of 180 minutes.
- Only one movie per director in the whole season.
- No movies from season 1 or season 2.
- Coproductions are allowed, but with an explanation why a movie certainly belongs to the country it competes for.

It wasn't literally "decided", it was just a date we used to calculate schedule from then on.

Also Chile and Egypt should be granted Pot 1 as we agreed before, but that wasn't literally decided by a poll either.

Slow, seriously? Why do you say that? This thread has been open for 24 hours. Five managers have made their pick. One decided not to manage this time. So only mjf314 and kingink are left. Since it's save to say kingink won't post, let's add this:

We really should start Season 3 well ahead of Christmas. And why has there been no poll on this important matter? Decision-making by one-man committees should have no place on this hallowed board.

I also hope tardiness - which we've already have started seeing traces of - won't be the signature aspect of the proceedings this season. Let's get this party started already, I say.

I don't see why not. We include mini-series in our film-polls, so why can't a mini-series compete in the World Cup? As long as the total runtime is less than 180 min and it's not just the first season of a multiple-season-series, I'll allow it.

EDIT: Maybe you could PM me about your particular idea.
