In case of non-IMDb entries, it would be fine if you'd always tell us to which TV series a particular short belogs, or does it exists as a separate thing. For TV series I have a different account where I also neatly register incompleted TV shows aside from completed ones (which I only check, for that matter).

The short "belongs to" "The Simpsons" which has been a popular animated TV show since the final years of the 20th century (in Earth time). "The Simpsons" is about a yellow-skinned nucular family with huge overbites and bizarre hair, living in the American town of Springfield (yes, the Springfield). It is mostly known for a spiky-haired boy saying "Don't have a cow, man!" and for a three-haired fat man saying "D'oh!". For more information please consult the appended links.

There is nothing to check because it isn't a full episode, but a couch gang, which is a part of the opening credits. A few years ago they started to invite guest animators to do those and one such example you can witness here.

Yeah I know what Simpsons are. They couldn't stop showing it which was a good thing since before that our TV program tortured us with Baywatch.

I just like to keep my watching history as neat as possible. I don't even check separate episodes at all.

Everything about the Simpsons has gone sharply downhill since the turn of the century, with one exception: the couch gags. Often they are too gimmicky, but every now and then they do something really special. The Hertzfeldt gag is certainly one of the best they have done.

That was really funny. The Simpsons has been out of ideas for over a decade, but these guest animators show there's still mileage that can be found in fresh voices. Hertzfeldt uses his gag to parody the drop-off in quality of the Simpsons. Jellyfish Homer sadly thinking back to the days of better quality and they're still completely degenerated versions is both hilarious and slightly sad.

I also love the Rick and Morty couch gag and the Guillermo del Toro Halloween one.

Yes, aside from all the amazing future stuff (which shows that this was a test-run for his "first" digital film 'World of Tomorrow', not just technically but also thematically) Hertzfeldt pokes fun at the fact that the show seems to keep getting made into all eternity. But I'd argue that his line of thinking was less that the show keeps getting worse (although that too), but that the future people are getting dumber, and with it all the entertainment. But at the same time future people also think completely differently, so we just don't get the witty jokes and the social commentary of this abbreviated clip show episode from the future. In the year 6500 (which approximately is when epasode numbar 1647757 of "The Sampsans" should air) this couch gag will make perfect sense, just you wait and see!

The "Rick and Morty" one is already legendary, and a treat for all "Rick and Morty" fans (and who isn't one?). The first Bill Plympton one (here) is like Plympton being self-ironic about his work. The Steve Cutts 80's style one (here) I think also is a lot of fun.

I just saw that letterboxd has this for the 'Wisdom Teeth' poster:

Hopefully the Criterion Collection will have the guts to use this for their 'Wisdom Teeth' Blu-ray cover, I'd buy the shit out of that release...

Don Hertzfeldt also used to have an interesting Vine account before Vines went the way of the dinosaur.
