iCM Forum Film World Cup - Season 2 - Records and Statistics

#1

Post by Mario Gaborović »

The tournament began on January 1st, 2016. This is how it works:
- We start with 48 films from 48 countries.
- The winning country from each match advances, and will be represented by a different film in the next round.
- There are 5 rounds. In round 1 there are 3 films per match (only 1 advances). In rounds 2-5 there is 2 films per match.

There are few restrictions:
- The film must have <1000 checks on iCM.
- The film must be no longer than 3 hours.
- You may only use 1 film per director throughout the entire tournament.

Complete line-up of films here:
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/icm+ ... /joachimt/

Voters are obliged to watch all three films from a specific group in order to vote by a ranking system (1-3). A country proceeds to the R2 if its film has positive head-to-head record against two other opponents, regardless if it’s not the best in average score (that said, countries with an asterisk have better 1 on 1 score against the opponents ranked behind them). The head-to-head records are as follows:

Fifties are more fashionable this year. I think last year it was the sixties that were the most succesful, weren't they?

I don't know it this has been mentioned before, I'm a bit surprised that only five countries repeat as second round participants: Japan, Hungary, Poland, Spain and Sweden. Same for managers, only five: Carmel98, funkybusiness, mjf314, monty and sortile9io.

I think that's not a small number at all. Remember nobody chose Chile, Serbia and Austria, that's already three possibilities less.

I also think the next season whoever choses Chile should be granted Pot 1 position, deserved on previous success. Regardless of the fact that Chile was skipped meanwhile.

And, by the way, four of those repeating five countries were last season's semifinalists. Sheer chance?

So Spain is the only country with two medals; time for the gold next time then.

Anyhow, what's the country with the most consecutive votes this Cup? What's the most disliked film overall? Which match had the biggest vote difference? We need more stats!

I'm more interested in All Time Tables, but it's tasteless to make one after just two cups. Spain would be the most successful country there.

No that would be dumb, but the country + director w/l would be excellent!

However I'll wait until the third season ends, it's too early now.
