Official lists updates

#1

Post by joachimt »

This thread is for information about updates on official lists only. If you have a request to update a list, you can post here. Please don't discuss new lists here.

Since May 2015 the Guys of ICM have assigned seven toplist-moderators. Let's first introduce these seven:
DreCosby
joachimt
Knaldskalle
mjf314
PeacefulAnarchy
SanderO
WalterNeff

Our task is to maintain the official lists on ICM. If a source updates we will update the list on ICM. Once we do, we'll post about it here.

We'll try to keep track of the sources as much as possible, but often we might rely on notifications by others as well. Therefor, if you notice an official list that needs to be updated for whatever reason, don't use the contact button on ICM, but just post here.

Yay, now we know who the list moderators are.

Might be a good idea to make this thread sticky.

Absolutely!
Can one of the forum-mods do that? I still don't have enough power here to do that. ;)

Updated: 100 Korean Masterpieces by Film 2.0 (2008 Edition)
Angaeggin chowon (1967) replaced with Angae (1967) (I know it's the right film because the director matches the original source)

Those are all great choices as mods except I do not know the first one, but am sure they will also be good and we need those with computer like brains to notice the details as much as mf314 above.

There's no edit button on that list because it's an auto-updated list. Even if I add it, it would just get removed in the next auto-update.

We were thinking of changing that list to BOM though since most people consider it a better box office source.

Great to see the moderator thing happen, good idea to start this thread. :)

mjf, the source of the Korea list links to the iCM list itself. Is this an error, a mistake or has it always been that way?

It's a bug (that it shares with many other lists on iCM). We are not able to fix that, but we're working on identifying all the missing list sources and finding suitable replacements. I'm sure at some point we'll either get the power to fix it or The Guys will get around to it.

How about the 3 IMDb lists that haven't updated in a while? Indie, Mini-Series, and Docs.

The moderators can't do anything about that because they're auto-updating lists. It's something the Guys would have to fix.

Simple case of changing the source link, right? Maybe someone should message The Guys.

The source link seems to be correct. I think it's a bug.

Yeah, the source link is fine for those imdb lists, but the way they're filtered may be causing problems with their parser. I sent the guys an option with reformulated links a few months back but I don't know if they tried it, or if it would fix the issue since I don't know what the issue is. I suppose we could ask them to turn off the auto-updates on them and let us update them manually, which shouldn't be much issue since it's just copying and pasting 50 imdb links.

I just submitted Let It Be to IMDb, so when it gets approved I'll add it to the Golden Horse list. I'll also add the 2 other missing films (the 2nd part of two 2-part films), but I'll wait for Let It Be so I can do them all at once.

I corrected the Golden Horse list.

Wu mi le (Let It Be) has been added.
The Story of Daisy (Xin Lan di gu shi) has been replaced with Story of a Mother (Mu qin san shi sui).
Sun, Moon and Star Part 2 (Xing xing yue liang tai yang xia) and The Blue and the Black II (Lan yu hei (Xia)) have been added.

I know there has been discussion about this but I really makes no sense to have Que Viva Mexico! (1932) instead of (1979) on the Doubling the Canon list. None of the voters 'really' voted for the 1932 film.

Fine with me. It's a very particular case because the 1932 IMDb entry is apparently an unfinished, unedited and unrealeased film. However I don't see several entries for "Greed" (original version, released version, and the extended reconstruction), for example.

Is it possible to fix the list without "resetting" the tab of new entries? Because people shouldn't think DtC only had this 1 change in their last update.
Just a minor idea.

Just a minor idea.
At the moment that's only possible if a list is updated by the one who updated it the last time. If that's not the case, the box "save as minor update" isn't available and it will be like it is now.

...if I understand correctly.

Don't worry, the guys know this - or will once I get around to finishing off that list of official list sources I'm supposed to work on (I know I updated the DtC link, but I'm not sure I uploaded that update yet).

Just wondering if you can edit film pages as well? Douche après le bain is from 1897 not 1896 according to the Lumiére catalog: http://catalogue-lumiere.com/douche-apres-le-bain/

All data are collected from IMDb, so no, they can't. You might want to correct it on IMDb though.

Note that the French sources often use the production date and IMDb the date of the first appearance in theatres. So there's often a year difference.

there's a few upcoming releases you could add to Masters of Cinema when you get a chance:

Forty Guns
A Letter to Three Wives
Stalag 17
Pickup on South Street
Listen Up Philip
Seishun zankoku monogatari
Medium Cool

also I agree with comment on the list that Comizi d'amore should be added, to be consistent with inclusion of ones like Nishi Ginza Station & Light of Night which were bonus films on Imamura discs. The measure could be that this is specifically listed as a double bill in Eureka's catalogue (as opposed to just being listed as an extra):
https://www.eurekavideo.co.uk/moc/accat ... e-meetings

on the other hand, Bon Voyage & Aventure Malgache should probably be removed as they are just listed as extras.
