My only complaint is that the celestial brush is frustrating to use. It's an interesting concept, and you use it in interesting ways, but sometimes it's hard to get the game to recognize which brush technique you're trying to do.
What platform did you play it on?

PS2 emulator. The brush didn't move very smoothly, so that was part of the problem, but even when I thought I drew the correct shape, it sometimes failed to recognize it.

Oh yea, I could see that being annoying. I got in on Switch but haven't played it yet.

Me after a few hours of Elden Ring: This has to seriously be in consideration for one of the most beautiful games ever made.
Me after entering Leyndell, 95 hours later: This is the most beautiful game ever made. Period.

Also very possibly the best. And, looking at all my other favorite games, I don't think it's that close. Granted, I've never played Breath of the Wild, a game Elden Ring keeps getting compared to.

Even if you're not a fan of the Souls games, I strongly recommend it. It's quite accessible.

I recently played through Kill It with Fire which was a fun little diversion that basically involves killing spiders with increasingly more ridiculous weaponry.

Picked up Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice next. I've heard good things about this one and it's interesting so far.

My boyfriend started playing Elden Ring last week and is loving it. He makes me look at all his screenshots after his gaming session lol. I hate those kinds of games and would never play it but it is quite beautiful.

Funnily enough, I was just thinking I should get a flashdrive so I can upload some of my screenshots. I took a ton using photo mode on Horizon: Zero Dawn. I just have a few of Elden Ring (no photo mode :( ).

I own Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice but haven't played it, so I'd love to hear what you think (without spoilers of course).

I really liked Hellblade when I played it 2 years ago(?) but it's a game that I still think about it now and then. The general combat is nice but becomes repetitive with the same opponents, the puzzles are a hit-or-miss but it's definitely a beautiful game with an interesting story/journey about grief and letting go. The soundtrack and the sound design are amazing and they complement each other well. Play it with headphones (the game itself recomends it). Can't wait for the sequel.

Yea, the graphics and sound design are excellent. I do see what you mean about the puzzles and combat, and I'm only 2 hours in.

I started Tales of Symphonia. It was fun enough to play for a few hours, but I got tired of it because I didn't like the combat very much.

I also started Persona 4. I think I like this game more, but I haven't gotten to the first dungeon yet, so it's too early to be sure.

Well I didn't think I'd ever give it a go but I started playing Elden Ring last night. I'm borrowing from my boyfriend's Steam library so I can only play when he's not on and only a few hours in. Surprisingly enjoying it so far. Any game described as 'souls-like' I avoid because I'm usually bored immediately and find them ugly and just not nice to play. But the game seems even more beautiful actually playing it and the combat feels really nice. My bf told me to take screenshots as I go so he can follow my path and we can compare the differences. I was showing him my screenshots and a place I found today is a place he only found last night (I'm 3 hours in, he's 70+ hours in) so that was kinda cool. I'm a big fan of exploration focused games so I am enjoying the exploring part of it and all the little surprises. Dunno if I'll get bored eventually but keen on it at the moment.

I finished Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice a couple nights ago. Very interesting storyline and while the combat and puzzles never really got amazing for me, they didn't detract too much. I did get a little tired of the backtracking in a couple places though.

Last night I decided to play a couple of random ones in that massive Itch.io Ukraine bundle they had recently. Played through the super short Summer Gems which was fine but very slight. Started A Short Hike which I'm liking quite a bit so far.

I've also been playing Clubhouse Games on Switch on the side to unwind a little.

Yeahhhh! It's an amazing game!

A good rule of thumb is, if normal world-roaming enemies take more than 2-3 hits to kill, try exploring somewhere else (or see if you can level up your favorite weapon).

Not sure if anyone here likes games like this but I've been playing Farm RPG for the last month or so: https://farmrpg.com (referral code 3D252 if you sign up :turned: ). Available on browser and mobile app. Really solid idle-like RPG that is not really pay-to-win (can buy gold but you earn plenty through regular gameplay), kinda feels like Runescape (or Melvor Idle with less idle) but basically text-based and chill with no combat or competitiveness. Active devs, friendly/giving community etc.

I compiled a list of the most popular video games of all time. Other people have made "most acclaimed" lists, but I think they put too much emphasis on historical importance. My goal was to make a more accurate list of games that people actually like.

- I only used polls. I avoided polls with very few voters, and I avoided using lists made by experts.
- I only used all-time polls. I avoided polls that focus on a specific genre or console.
- To reduce anti-recency bias, I only used polls from the last 10 years (although games from the last few years are probably still underrepresented).
- I used the same exponential decay point system that we use for movie polls.

I used 10 polls in total - 4 forum polls and 6 from various other sources. Everything in the top 100 is on at least 3 of the 10 lists.

Here's the top 100:

Edit: Fixed mistakes.

Yeah, it's really on point though the individual rankings seem weird when outside the top 10.

Edit: I thought this was critically acclaimed titles not popular titles. I can't evaluate how popular the individual games were back in the day, but if we go by today, then almost none of these titles are popular.

When I say popular, I mean it's intended to be a list of games that a lot of people currently consider their favorites. It's not intended to be a list of games that people are currently playing or talking about. Maybe "most loved" would have been a better description.

I'm not the most qualified person to judge if this is a good list, so I'm interested in hearing what other people think. Is it an accurate list of games that a lot of people like?
It's a solid list but I would trade a few with Donkey Kong, Pac Man, Tomb Raider, Tekken 3, The Sims, SIm City, Command & Conquer Red Alert, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Counter Strike..

When I say popular, I mean it's intended to be a list of games that a lot of people currently consider their favorites. It's not intended to be a list of games that people are currently playing or talking about. Maybe "most loved" would have been a better description.
Oh, then it's indeed a correct list. It of course depend on the individual person. I think this list hits the nail on people who have been gaming since the 90's. More modern gamers would remove many of the early titles and replace it with titles from 2009-now (probably some red dead redemption 2 and god of War)

Tomb Raider is #117, and on 3 lists, so it just barely missed out.

I certainly see a lot of personal favorites there, but I have a pretty strict Nintendo focus and don't game too often.

In general, it seems ok but there are some really bizarre omissions like Mario Odyssey which is probably the most acclaimed Mario game in years (certainly more than Galaxy 1 & 2) as well as a total lack of LucasArts games (no Sam & Max, Monkey Island or Day of the Tentacle. wtf). Majora's Mask seems oddly high for how divisive that game seems to be too.

I think Breath of the Wild is the most recent game on the list. 2 of the polls were done in 2017, after Breath of the Wild and before Super Mario Odyssey, so Super Mario Odyssey had a big disadvantage.

The Secret of Monkey Island is #119, and on 4 of the 10 lists.

The Pokemon games are confusing because everyone uses different names, and since I know very little about Pokemon, I'm not sure which ones to combine. If I combine them, then they might make the top 100.

For example, are all of these the same game? Should I combine them?

Red / Blue
Red / Green / Blue
Red / Blue / Green / Yellow
Red / Blue / Yellow
Red / Blue / Yellow / FireRed / LeafGreen
Yellow

What about these? Should I combine them?

Gold / Silver / Crystal / HeartGold / SoulSilver
Gold / Silver
Gold / Silver / Crystal
HeartGold / SoulSilver
Crystal

I checked the Wikipedia articles, and it seems like they're different versions of the same game, so I combined them. If a list included multiple versions, then I kept the highest ranked version and removed the others. Now there are 2 Pokemon games in the top 100, Red/Blue and Gold/Silver.

Here's the updated top 100:

Wondering where game critics will place Elden Ring when new polls come around.

Thanks, I fixed it. After merging, Uncharted 2 is #34. Here's the list: viewtopic.php?t=1124&start=4200#p763353

Red Dead Redemption 2 is #175. It's on 2 of the 10 lists (but only 3 lists were published after RDR2's release).

Rllmuk Forum is running a new poll right now, so they should be posting the results pretty soon. Elden Ring seems to be getting a lot of votes, so it's probably going to be near the top.

I was quite pleased with the last Playstation's State of Play. As part of the very small percentage of people with no interest in Elden Ring, this year was quite dry.
Now, Spider-man for PC this August :circle: Callisto Protocol in December, a soul sequel to Dead Space whose remake is coming a month later! Resident Evil 4 Remake in March and I'm really curious about Stray which comes next month. Hoping for more nice revelations to add to my backlog this Tuesday in the Summer Games Fest.

Anyway, finished back in May, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and this month I've been playing Days Gone and I'm really enjoying it. Came into this with low expectations and the game is actually good fun!

I recently played through Lacuna which was a pretty interesting cyberpunk noir point n click adventure. Lately I've been playing through a metroidvania called Horace. Really good but man, it's hard. It's a metroidvania that has incorporated the die fast/die often technique of stuff like Super Meat Boy and Celeste.

I've also been randomly playing a bunch of the little indie games in that Ukraine bundle itch.io had a few weeks ago.

Been playing Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order today and loving it. Haven’t been in the mood for games for a while but grabbed a few things from my Steam wishlist because of summer sales. I don’t remember hearing anything about the game despite having wishlisted it.

Looks fantastic, great acting, immersive world, cute and cool creatures, fun combat, fun puzzles. Not a Star Wars nerd though I like the original trilogy and Mandalorian and it definitely captures the essence of those (leaning more towards Mando).

Finished yesterday Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. It has all the makings of a cool game but it just never clicked with me. A bit of a slog to get through, honestly. The gameplay/combat is repetitive, you only get to play as Star Lord and order your teammates to do some special moves. Your dialogue choices don't have any impact in the story but do have in your playthrough... well, sometimes. The banter and the comedy can become a bit overbearing. I guess the enjoyment you can take from this game depends on how much you like the movies/comics which this game borrows a lot from.

Cleaning my backlog. Finished Transformers Fall of Cybertron almost in one sitting. It takes a while to get going but once it does is quite fun thanks to the ever changing gameplay. It's also short so that helped.

I played through Roundabout recently, a rotating limo game (yea... I dunno how else to describe it) with cheesy FMV sequences for the story line. It was actually a pretty fun game. The gameplay is similar to that Nintendo series Kurururin if anyone has played those games.

I've also been chilling out with House Flipper. For some reason I find that a very relaxing game, just cleaning up, painting, plastering, re-selling houses.

Finally the DLC for Forza Horizon 5 arrived, so playing that. And recently I did a playthrough of Route 96. I really enjoyed that - a kinda roguelike point and click adventure in a dystopia where you need to escape from not-USA to not-at-all-Canada.
