What game(s) are you playing now?

Just realized that we have a book and music version for this but not games. Although it definitely won't be as active as the other 2, no harm in making a thread about it.

I only play like 30 minutes to an hour a week these days but I'm in the middle of Tomb Raider 2 which is very fun, and started The Longest Journey today. The jokes for that game is pretty bad but from what I've played so far I think it might be good.
My father didn’t have the skill of a professional cameraman. The result? Avant-garde cinema.

The last time I played a game on a computer or Wi or whatever is at least ten years ago. I see no fun in that. To me it's a complete waste of time. When I say that to teenagers I always get the respone: "And watching thousands of movies isn't a waste of time?" :P

Good luck with this thread...

I hate to say it, but that is a valid argument :D

I have been playing Dark Souls on ps3. Although I have got the platinum trophy for it, I can’t stop playing the PvP aspect of the game!

I actually think if you're watching great movies that are intellectually stimulating, then it's absolutely better. However there are also a handful of games (and actually I think there are more and more of those) that are really very smart and are absolutely not a waste of time (or at least they are as good of a waste of time as a good movie or book)

I guess you could also take the argument that through video games you are building a better hand eye coordination. I also read this article that people who play video games are able to process much more info at once than people who don’t play them, granted processing a bunch of info is not always a good thing, as you can’t put your full power into one thing.

There are a number of baseball players that play a certain video game (forget what it's called) simply b/c it's supposed to improve HEC so much.

But yeah, I would agree that video games are a much larger waste of time than most pastimes. That's not to say they have no value, though -- I play video games to unwind, recharge my batteries so to speak. I'd much rather play video games after a long hard day than watch a movie or read a book for that reason.

To answer the OP, I am playing Uncharted 3. It's pretty good. Not as great as the second one, but a lot better than the first which I found to be pretty mediocre.

I like the third as much as the 2nd, at first not, but once the boat level showed up, my jaw dropped. Pure insanity.

I just started the boat level last night. It's definitely a huge step up from all the wanky puzzles of the previous few levels.

I just keep replaying Portal 2 at the moment (I finished it again last night, but I'm sure I'll start it up again soon enough). And playing some community maps. I'm in a mood at the moment where I don't feel like doing anything, but Portal 2 is keeping me happy.

regularly playing AudioSurf
xmpl
not so regularly:
MDK
xmpl
Mark Of The Ninja
xmpl
Team Fortress 2 (2nd favorite online meatgrinder)
well, I'm sure everyone knows about it. Valve's Meet the Team videos are hilarious
WRC 3 (well, I checked every solid rally game ever made)
xmpl
LEGO Batman 2
xmpl
Red Alert 3 (not really worth mentioning, it's on hiatus, not sure if I'll ever finish it with all the hundreds of better things to do)
Oddworld 2
xmpl
and
Sacrifice (5 campaigns which I'm gonna be stretching for at least a year, finished 2 so far)
xmpl
this, AudioSurf and TF2 are the 3 games currently on my PC I'd put on a list of 100 games everyone has to play

AudioSurf is fun, but it feels kind of pointless after a while :P I started playing Mark of the Ninja the other day, but need to get back to it. Have also started playing Braid and a little bit of Miasmata yesterday, but it was laggy and frustrating me so I stopped. Also need to get back to TF2, but every time I've tried recently every server I get put into either has no players or is laggy as hell.

I was a game maniac till 7-8 years ago. Favorite games were EA Sports (any game), GTA series and NFS series. Completed till GTA San Andreas and NFS Undercover. Then lots inetrest in games (mostly because of my not-so-up-to-date PC) and become a movie addict. Was never a fan of console games.

Now just occasionally playing EA Cricket 2002 for nostalgic feeling.

I hardly play computer games anymore. I always get a bad consciense when I turn on Football Manager or any other video games, because I know I have a lot of work to do on so many lists.. And I don't get any checks by playing computer games.

The last game I played was Skyrim, which I actually played for some hours. I was mostly because I liked Oblivion and Morrowind.
If I visit friends we sometimes play Fifa, but nothing regular. And also a yearly game of Age of Empires II.

Why don't we make a icm board favorites video-games, making lists on IMDB?

I'm from the old school, like I said I love the retro arcade games, I had the Master System II and thanks to emulators I've played games from NES, SNES, PSX games like Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider or Abe's Odysee ... and I've played PC games too. Could be curious our combined list.

Yea, I grew up in the NES/SNES/Genesis era.

And this is the first time I've seen Audrey Hepburn with a ball gag.

We could have our own Donkey Kong Country Mafia, awesome game!

I'll work on my own list and when 1001 ends, maybe I propose to organize it.

I grew up with a Nintendo 64. I never liked the PS and the Xbox controller was always too big for my hands until the 360 came out and I had bigger hands :P I would always generally ignore games unless I saw someone playing and thought it looked interesting, so I missed out on a lot of games. I'm catching up with some PC games now, and starting to pay attention to what's popular to try out some different ones.

Nice list mightysparks, but how could you rank Ruby as the highest Pokemon game :(

I personally used to be very much into games younger until at some point my computer stopped being able to handle new games and I guess I lost interest.

Here's an attempt to make a personal list: http://www.imdb.com/list/0tMzcmDOoxQ

It'd be really cool to see a iCM Forum Top 100 video-games list or something similar.

Oh wow, Mario Kart Double Dash. I had forgotten about that one!
Now I'm not sure if I prefer 64 or Double Dash. I had tons of fun with both.

Any version but the Wii's is great. I find the newest one to be way too much based on pure luck than anything else, makes it less enjoyable.

Anyways, to get back on topic: I pretty much only have the time to play games in the bus these days, so I've been replaying the Yu-Gi-Oh handheld games; I just beat Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul (GBA).

So no one here played Lucas Arts adventures in the early 90s? You guys make me sad, Day of The Tentacle, Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, those were the best. I'd make a list but it'd be really skewed towards pre-2000 stuff.
