Liquid Tension Experiment - LTE 3

This is quite a special release considering the people involved in this. First time since 2010 Mike Portnoy teams up with his former mates from Dream Theater, John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess.

I haven't posted in this personal thread of mine for quite a while. I forgot about it several times.

Transatlantic - The Absolute Universe: Forevermore (extended version) + The Absolute Universe: The Breath of Life (abridged version)

Transatlantic released two version of the same album at the same time. One is a single CD, the other a double CD. But don't think the double is just a version with bonus CD, or an extended version of the single one. On both albums there is music that is not present on the other. They are both structured differently with other arrangements and other combinations. And since I'm a huge fan of this band, I love everything I can listen to this back to back for days and days and days. Yes, the extended version is long and they really spend a lot of minutes at the end closing things down, but those endings are such a pleasure to listen to that it doesn't matter one bit to me.

Leprous - Aphelion

The review of this in the Dutch metal magazine Aardschok was actually not very good. The rating was okay, but the general message was this is a weaker album by Leprous. It's missing the top songs and it feels like it was made as in between album during Covid. But still, it was album of the month again......
I do get what the reviewer was saying and I have to admit I prefer Pitfalls over Aphelion overall, partly because Aphelion is even more mellow than Pitfalls. But still, there are some amazing moments on this one! Castaways Angels is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. And that's not even the most heavenly singing on this album. I get goosebumps every time I listen to On Hold. And Nighttime Disguise might not be the grand finale like The Sky Is Red was on Pitfalls, but it still has a lot of interesting stuff going on. So yeah, I'm hooked again. But did you guys expect otherwise? I guess not.

The Neal Morse Band - Innocence & Danger

I've lost count of how many albums I've got with Neal Morse playing on it.
Loving it, Neal. Just keep doing this. But I shouldn't ignore this is a band album and not just Neal himself. Since these five form NMB it went from Neal Morse to Neal Morse Plus, which makes every album even more interesting to listen to.

Epica - Omega

I'm not really into gothic, but this has some amazing orchestration, not in the least thanks to Joost van den Broek. Haven't listened to this enough yet to tell some more.

Flotsam and Jetsam - Blood in the Water

Haven't listened enough to comment really, but it sounds fun.
This is actually the first F&J album I ever bought. Any classics by them I shouldn't skip?
