Welcome to the 'Dirty Thirties'


...here's another film log for me to keep track of my views for the incoming year, 2023. This time my focus is on the 1930s and my goals far less aspirant than they were for 2022: realistically I hope to see at least 1 film from the 1930s per week for the duration, although I hope I can exceed that on several, if not many, weeks.

As per usual, if anyone wants to come along for the ride, they are most welcome, but I'll also happily go it alone...

Okay, added a pic. Can't say most were that exciting and not many available. Not sure I want to trouble with putting DVDs in computer and then searching.

Isn't there some database of screencaps on the forum somewhere? You know, that get used when they do the countdown for a poll?

That's why I normally just take a pic with my phone and resize/crop it. It seems easier. I put screenshots together in the 60s thread for some too. Not sure I'll be going that far here, as it took up too much time ultimately.

btw, there's an excellent 4k restoration version currently available on YouTube. I has about 9 minutes more footage (not to mention some different editing) than the much uglier Archive.org version that has been linked on iCM for years.

I used to watch a lot more films from the 20s - 30s, in fact, they were my favorite decades for a long time. I was shocked when I pulled up that list and only had 75 titles on it, but as I looked it over I realized I was very strict in compiling it - only films I've rated 9 or 10. It's a great decade! Have fun.
