#107 - iCMs Favorite 1940s - The Devil and Miss Jones - 7/10. Old rich guy learns to be nice after interacting with the plebes who work for him.
#108 - iCMs Favorite 2010s - The Man From Nowhere - 7/10. Somewhere between Taken and John Wick (although pre-dates Wick).
Watched these 2 in tandem, to break up so many 1940s films in a row. But they were mostly pleasant. As were most of the 2010s I had remaining. Been very few bad films in any of the iCM Favorite lists so far.

#109 - iCMs Favorite 1960s - The Red Angel - 7/10. Really brutal look at war between Japan and China circa WW2, via the experiences of a nurse.
Red Angel was #1 on my <400 ballot for a few years, before it finally went over 400.
Yeah, that was a <400 staple all the way until it dropped out just last year or so. Brutally underrated in critics' lists - what the hell are they even doing?! 3 of the 4 lists it's on are user-generated (ICM most fav, ICM 1960s & DtC, +<400 before that) ..
So, thank Jonathan, at least!

I finally got my second platinum!!!
AV Club's Top 50 of the 2000s is in the books, thanks to Time Out. Not one of the best films on the list, but it was good enough and got me that elusive trophy.

I think that might have been the one that got me platinum on that list as well. Similar opinions on it.kongs_speech wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2023, 6:34 pm I finally got my second platinum!!!

#110 - iCMs Favorites of 1990s. La Classe Americaine. 6/10. Cool dubbing, builds on MST3k in being a different language and many films edited together. But not really a good plot, and overly crude. And lacking when compared to 2012's Final Cut. Also near last films Train of Life (9/10) and Knockin On Heaven's Door (8/10) were very good.
6 to go for 50% Plat... have 30s, 70s, and 80s of iCM faves, so that's easy. Cannes Grand Prix was what I was working on before the Faves came out. Not sure which other 2 to do... possible 1920s faves (would leave me with only 1910s and 2020s not Plat), Time Out's French, Kurosawa, LGBT, Israel, BFI Independent, or Harvard Narrative... think it'll be 2 of those.

The Last Days of Pompeii (1908) on the icm favorites pre-1910 list got me my first platinum. We'll see how long that lasts, but I think I have a good buffer for any list changes. I did most of the work last year and only have five or six official checks left pre-1910 on any list.
The Stepford Wives (1975) got me the platinum for Total Sci-Fi's The 100 Greatest Sci-Fi Movies. I lost a few platinums due to updates so this is only #54 for now, but I should get a few platinums back soon.

#111 - iCMs Favorite of 1930s - The Good Fairy 5/10. Found this screwball to be more annoying and contrived than most. Easy Living was pretty good, though... check that one out.

#4 - Floating Weeds got me my platinum on the 1001 You Must See Before You Die.
I've been working on this since I got the first edition in 2003 as a Christmas present.
I still can't quite believe it's complete. Feeling a bit giddy

Congrats! And you picked a good one to get you to plat.
On to the next list. TSDPT?

Congrats, Mulholland! A great achievement!
If completing this list is the precondition of "official cinephilia", as I heard Torgo imply, there are only 32 of you on ICM!
(It's also a bit more rare than TSPDT, since that has been completed by 35 on ICM.

Thanks guys. It actually feels weird to have done this!
I think for the sake of my husband's sanity, I won't be chasing another big list for a good while (although I will be maintaining the 1001 as it updates).
I do have 10 lists where (thanks to the 1001) I am less than 10 away from platinum. So I think I'm going to do a bit of a mop up activity over the next year or so

Hey now, some of us completed earlier versions and just didn't keep up.

#111 (again) - Cesar Award. Lady Chatterly and Smoking/No Smoking were saved for last because of their length, and both are 4/10... due to being quite slow, lacking in plot, and overly long.
Lost Plat on Black Film Canon with yesterday's update... have 13 films now to watch to re-plat that.
Final 5: Black Film Canon (13), Time Out France (6), Cannes Grand Prix (12), iCM 1970s (7), iCM 1980s (9). Might complete in March.

Indeed.
#112 - iCMs Favorite 1970s - My Friends (1975), 6/10. The 3 prior ones were better, but overall a good finish. We All Loves Each Other So Much 7, The Very Same Munchhausen 7, and I for Icarus 8.

#113 - iCMs Favorite 1980s - Really did not like the last films I had on this one. Disappointment. Threads my only 7/10, nothing higher.
This gives me all iCM Favorites from 1930s - 2010s completed. I'm the 6th person to do so (nymets, onuryz, ronjensen, sander0, and sien). Most of those others also have the 1920s and 1910s completed. Nobody has 2020s plat'd, although Sien has 97/100 for 1st place by 4 films. And i'll probably do 1920s myself, since I'm only 13 away.
The other side benefit of plat'ing all these Favorite lists... I'm now at 230/250 on the overall iCM Most Favorite list, for 18th place. Probably will eventually plat this, although I don't like how it's more volatile to new additions due to its formula.

Plat back On European award and Palme d'or now that Triangle of Sadness is on Hulu in USA. Now I've seen all 10 best picture nominations for the oscars this year.

#114 - Slate's Black Canon (updated). This is a re-plat... didn't really enjoy Alma's Rainbow, Hale County, or Girls Trip. But Time, 40 Year Old Version, and Zola were all enjoyable.

#115 - Time Out's 100 French. I have watched WAY too many French films in the past 5 weeks... That Man from Rio was the best of this final bunch of films to plat. But, really, I just want to have a reprieve from France for a while.
12 Cannes Grand Prix winners left. Plus All the Beauty and the Bloodshed (which hits HBO in 8 days) to re-plat Venice.

#116 (sort of) - Cannes Grand Prix. Ulysses' Gate, like all of Angelopolous' films I've seen, was incredibly long and very boring 3/10. A World Apart was pretty good, The Counterfeit Coin was the best thing I've seen in a while.
But, of course, a new 1930s Favorite popped in... so need to watch that today before I have 50% Plats. Soooooooooooo cloooooooooooooose.

LET'S GOOOOOO. I don't know when I started this journey, but I think it was around 2017. But I have now finished 50% of the official lists on the site:

this includes 114 plats + Kubrick (1 lost film) + Fantasy Impossible (4 lost films)
I didn't really think I'd ever be able to accomplish this goal, because there were so many, many films I hadn't seen. And so many new, obscure lists kept getting added. But a whole lot of obsessive focus later, it's done. I'll keep going, because I like binging specific lists. But I need a break from movies (I've been neglecting video games).
Next, shorter (and longer) goals for me:
Finish all films on 5 lists (60ish to go)
Finish the (not yet updated) S&S and TSPDT lists
Finish LGBT, Kurasawa, Trouffant, AA Docs, Sundance, iCM Most Favorite, 1920s Faves, Harvard Fiction, 5 remaining BFI lists, and Film TVs Italy lists
Get into Top500 club: need 6 Turkey + 100 Zombie films
Finish all films on 4 lists (200ish to go)
Finish the IMDb Mini-Series list
Figure all that should take me at least through the end of 2024? Maybe?
edit: forgot this fun data... I'm the 7th (current) person with 50% rank 1s:

the other 6 are all top-15 users. MMDan and tristanb are both at 110+ as well

Congratulations! Getting to 50% platinum is pretty cool. I'm only at 25% platinum myself, though I expect to complete another 10 or so lists this year.
Those sound like good goals for future completion. I'm still working on Top 500 and should have it completed except for zombies in another 6 weeks. I might work on getting all bronze after that, though that will take a long time to complete.

All Bronze is an insane goal. I'm somewhere around 2500 films away from it, roughly? Whereas ALL my above listed goals, which I think is under 1000 films.
I'm around 3500 films away minus whatever duplication is involved. It's definitely long term. I might try for Top 400 first which is only about an additional 300 films beyond Top 500.
