I think I'm happily resigned to no longer caring about ICM rankings - given the snail pace at which we watch things, and how few new official checks we actually watch. I say quality over quantity.

Yea, definitely. If you can only see a limited amount of films each week, it's the sane thing to do. I'm in the opposite situation, where I have some gaps to fill, so ICM is perfect for that, certainly because canon is something I've largely ignored in the years before

Pretty good progress so far. I plan to work on it some more over the next couple of months before concentrating on Unofficial films in July.

I should come back to this..... at least get myself back to 1 away (TSZ). Every time I disappear from the site for a year, I come back with like 10 that are 500+. Currently exactly 10, with 1 over rank 1000.

The problem is that these are the same 10-ish lists that I always have to grind down when I come back, and I'm just not really that interested in them. Plus they are, for the most part, really old lists on the site... meaning they were targeted a lot more back in the day, so it's harder to rank on them.

2 Noir lists, LATAM 2010s list, Spaghet Western, one of the Russian, Guildbagge, B-Movies, Euro Horror, Turkey, and Shoot Zombies. I especially don't want to work on the Turkey list, and I just don't watch enough horror (or Noirs) to keep up with folks on the site. I need to see 5 more Turkish films to get under rank 500 (24 total), and I just... ugh. Don't want to. Most of the others only need 1 film. And then Zombies needs 100+ lol.

I need 275 for Top 500 on TSZDT. That's going to be pretty hard for me and will likely be last, if at all. I need 100+ on a few others, but there are enough films on those lists that I am at least somewhat interested in that it should be doable, especially with a number of films being on multiple lists.

I feel you, foot. Everything of this, and almost the same lists (except B-Movies ).
Also a true observation for old lists. The newer the lists - and the more exotic (non-American) - the easier they are to rank.

The problem with hunting for ranks is how ultimately unsatisfying it is, especially the overall user rank. Let's say you need 100 checks to reach your aimed ranking of #300 or something and plan to do it for the rest of year. You make those 100 checks ... but in the same time, someone else also watched 100 films. Someone else even 200. And many others on the way 50. To make things worse, people may register with even more checks, so the goal drifts further away. And when you've finally done it and chilled for a year (kids, gaming, you know), you're back to where you started. Ouch!
Only masochists and true addicted checkwhores can keep up with the ranking games and elite clubs.

I definitely don't care about my overall rank. But I've had a goal in the back of my mind for a few years now to get Plat/Rank-1 on half the lists. I have a lot more enjoyment binging and finishing a list vs cherry picking lists (especially for rank).

Currently need 22 more Plats for that goal. But each remaining list is 20+ movies away. So it's still a pretty long-term goal. And gets harder with each new batch of lists (usually). I think it'd be a super cool goal to hit, though.

I have iCM Enhanced, yeah. But i've also seen almost every film on 6+ lists already, so the overlap on the lists I have "close" to finishing is minimal. At this point, the big overlaps are mostly across the various 1000+ film lists and then maybe 1-2 of the more niche ones.

OK... ran it across 27 lists that I could Plat, and there's 1 film on 3 and 46 on 2. Meaning something like 700ish on 1.

You should definitely watch the ones directed by Yilmaz Güney (Umut is my favourite, Duvar and Agit are pretty good as well)

But, most important, avoid any movie directed by Ertem Egilmez.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan is another solid director. I also quite liked Ivy and Time for Love.

Yo, I noticed this a while ago but too lazy to bring it up (idk if I mentioned it before actually) but T2000 & T2250 don't seem to display the correct counts. I have two lists that have rankings 2500+ but it says I have 213 lists for 2000 and 214 for 2250...

Ok so I STOLE Onder's formula and legitimately can be called a haxx0r and script kiddie for that. Amazing!
This is what the Torgometer looks like:

2 months later, I'm the Top 500 for 160 lists, 194 in Top 600, 206 in 800 (and of course all in the 1000). You see, for a casually involved ICManiac, it wouldn't be impossible to settle this until the end of the year.
The funny thing is that in the meantime, 2 certain lists could throw me out:
- Leonard Maltin, 99/100, #472
- AFI 100 Thrills, 99/100, #483
I developed this odd affection for seeing them almost complete for years now .. sad to see them "go".

Another funny one, although I have long finished it: ICM Most Checked puts you at #682 with 249/250 checks and you sharply not make the Top 1000 anymore with 247/250 checks. THIS is mainstream, my guys!
And I'm still negatively impressed by the hunger for Academy averageness: Best Picture Winners -> 90/95 #515, 91/95 #475, 92 #430 93 #346 .. why do people do this

Kinda surreal to view the rankings for RonJensen .. he's in the Top 10 Club except for 3 lists (#13, #26 and #50 respectively), in the Top 5 for all but 8 lists and well he's #1st for almost everything anyway.

There must some mass migration from IMDb to ICM have taken place at some time. Otherwise I can't explain the amounts of Turkish films we have to watch for rankings in the Top 1000, 666, 400 and so on. Compare it to other country lists, it's just conspicuous.
