Thanks! I spent about ten minutes standing at that spot and took about 30 pictures, and most of them came out looking pretty bad before I got one I liked.

Very much my vibes as well. The friends I was with didn't get it. They very begrudgingly waited for me for a couple of minutes so I could take pictures, while I was thinking: "How can you not want to explore this abandoned building?"
There was a sign saying the site would be redeveloped soon into some sort of educational complex.
