The Rover (David Michôd, 2014) #Australia
In a bleak post-apocalyptic world not dissimilar to The Road, a guy's car is stolen by a ruthless gang which sets him on a path of retribution. This was actually pretty solid with Guy Pearce (cornering the market on super depressing, gritty Australian movies) and Robert Pattinson both doing great work.

146.
Pathala Bhairavi (Kadiri Venkata Reddy, 1951)
My usual complaints about Bollywood (too long, too melodramatic at times) hold true but this one does have some fun sorcery shenanigans at times that help it go down a little smoother than it might have otherwise.

147.
Ninja Strike Force (Godfrey Ho, Joseph Lai, 1988)
Man, I was going into some severe Godfrey Ho withdrawals after a couple months of noir and documentaries. Ninja Strike Force is a delightfully bonkers Ho/Lai flick that has all the usual trademarks: brightly colored ninjas fighting over inexplicable conflicts (in this case a magic sword that grants ultimate power or something), random scenes from a totally different movie pasted in (in this case we've got a kung fu prodigy with a brother suffering from tuberculosis), excruciatingly bad dubbing with dialogue that makes no sense. It's all quite glorious.

148.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (Jason Reitman, 2021)
This "re-quel" leans into the nostalgia HARD and for the most part it's a pretty fun if somewhat slight and pandering ride. I watched it with my kids and they loved it, especially the back half once stuff really got going. My wife thought the little marshmallow men were adorable too.

149.
Ciao maschio a.k.a. Bye Bye Monkey (Marco Ferreri, 1978)
Really Cannes? This was pretentious gibberish.

150.
V (Kenneth Johnson, 1983)
Pretty solid alien invasion mini-series. I liked that many of the aliens seemed to have their own personalities like Willy that sympathize with the humans. That helped it give a little more of a dimension than something like Invaders from Mars.

151.
La decima vittima a.k.a. The 10th Victim (Elio Petri, 1965)
Woah, this was a super kooky fun movie with Marcello Mastroianni and Ursula Andress in a deadly game of cat & mouse as part of a Running Man-esque TV competition that's been granted to society as a way for the rich and jaunty to get out their jollies in a healthy way. The set designs are classic '60s garish pop art and accomplished director Elio Petri really keeps things movie. I liked this one a lot actually despite the stupid ending.

152.
Lokis. Rekopis profesora Wittembacha (Janusz Majewski, 1970)
This one was pretty good. It starts a little slow but does a suitable job of creating a kind of creeping mystery steeped in weird Polish folklore involving a man-bear.

153.
Realive (Mateo Gil, 2017)
This one has a well-written screenplay with some interesting ideas but it does drag a little in places and the directing and set design

154.
Elektra (Rob Bowman, 2006)
One part Netflix' Iron Fist, one part The Next Karate Kid. Yea, it wasn't good.

155.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (Rob Marshall, 2011)
It had a few fun set pieces to it but really drags in the second half at times.
