O' heavens, please help me describe my frustration, if the TSPDT list is doubled just now when I seriously started to aim for the platinum on it!

EDIT: In other words, I strongly hope that the TSPDT 1001-2000 list becomes an individual list, and not an extension to the existing list. Otherwise, my moral backbone is unavoidably crushed on my previously joyous mission. :pinch:

If 1001-2000 is adopted, it absolutely 100% has to be separate. It's very clear from source that the main list is meant to be 1000 films, that has always been the project, it's headed 'The 1000 Greatest Films'.

1001-2000 is an appendix/bonus.

I agree and I'd very much like it to be adopted.

Ps. The Lighthouse only barely made the 21st list, definitely thought it would break top 300 or so

Getting timeouts all over the place, but I sure hope it's not becoming a separate list. It's getting a little out of hand with these TSPDT lists, not in the least because they're some kind of composite list already. Just decide on how many films you want in the official list and leave it at that.

Has to be a separate list. The source is very clear on 1000 being the specific primary list. Welcome the adoption of 1001 to 2000 as a separate list though.

This is very exciting news. Slight preference to having the 1001-2000 as its own list.

I do have to ask though - how soon are you guys planning to adopt it?

If it's before the end of April, we should inform Angel, since it would making 1001-2000 films ineligible for the DTC.

Maybe within a month, or maybe we'll wait until DtC is finished. I'm not sure.

I pm'd Angel and he said he'll make those movies ineligible for the next update. By next update I assume he means 2021.

Hoping for separate lists just cause it’d make keeping track of how far I am from finishing the top 1000 much harder. Plus in the current version, at least most of the movies are easy to find. Empire is in the top 2000 and I’m sure it’s not the only difficult one to find.

I'm wondering who had even proposed the idea having them merged together? tehe
I can't even imagine both of them being in a single list. They are supposed to be two different lists.

And, I also welcome the isdea of makin 1001-2000 official.

Agreed with the general consensus here. Hoping it gets adopted soon as a separate list.

Trying to extend the existing TSPDT list has to be a secret mission to boost Greek tourism:
https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/eniaios/
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10923778/

Did I understand it right that only 8 out of 22 cycles of the film have ever been shown or even finished, and that there's an organization which is still trying to complete the whole film? Does anyone even know if there's going to be another showing in the future? The last showing (of the cycles 6-8) seems to have been held in 2012.

Is Eniaios even in the TSPDT 2000 (#1831) just because three critics voted for it in S&S 2012 poll? If that is so, it feels to me that having 2000 films on the TSPDT list (separately or in one list) is a bit much altogether...

This is my understanding as well. When I found this out, it made me question the compilation and weighting process of TSPDT. Given that there are thousands of lists included, the fact that a film showing up on a single list is enough to make the top 2000 out of a starting list of ... 14,000(?) is baffling and counterintuitive to me, unless I misunderstand the process.

Maybe someone should do a composite list of TSPDT and S&S, and that can be the ultimate list. And that list can be combined with the Top 1000 ICM most official check list, for even more inbreeding!

In the last ten years of his life, Markopoulos toiled over Eniaios, another, and the ultimate, reworking of his entire earlier film output. It was fully edited and notated, but left unprinted, at the time of his death. A completely silent eighty-hour long, epic re-configuration of his previous works, it contains 100 individual titles arranged in 22 cycles. Edited in the manner of the later, black-leader, films, it is to be seen ideally over several weeks, in a yearly summer-fetival held at the Temenos, a special open-air cinema theatre dedicated to Markopoulos’s works and those of Robert Beavers.

Stop with the madness! It shouldn't be adopted, we don't need more 1000 movies list. What's next, TSZDT 1001-2000 ?

This idea of more 1000 movies lists is becoming tiresome. We should focus more on small but compelling lists and I believe there's so much to choose from.

I love top 1000 lists, but ones from different sources and covering different aspects of cinema. I don’t really like the idea of addendums being made official.

Thanks! Tried searching for the full name but ended up dropped on some movie page instead of the hoped for results page with the tabs that includes lists.

Adopt TSPDT #1001-2000, make Doubling the Canon unofficial. In other words, replace Doubling the Canon with TSPDT #1001-2000. It's a no brainer really.

I agree that the 1001-2000 list is not so strong, but this is just not true. Take Eniaios as an example: 3 S&S-2012 votes plus some minor mentions. 3 S&S-2012 votes means 3 recent all-time top 10s by reputed critics. That is not a mention in the appendix of a monothematic book written by John Doe (and you know sometimes this is enough to make a title official check ;) ).

Thanks for clarifying Angel. Are the S&S ballots treated as individual lists for TSPDT, or is the 2012 results lists encompassing them all? I was not aware that there were other mentions of Eniaios outside of S&S, so that's good to know.

As far as I know lists like "S&S Top Greatest Films of All Time" have no weight in formulas, because all individual ballots have been compiled and weighed according to the voter and the date. They are just information,
