(my own opinion) I guess we'll wait a bit more to see what happens because it's expanded to 1014and the lowest film has 164million. Neither of those is a round number so I don't know if they're going for 1000 and have a coding mistake or if they want to just include everything and haven't gotten there yet. If they do make it 1000 then I guess we'll go with that. If they're expanding to include everything then there's no source size to follow and we'll have to decide on a size ourselves, which for me would be a bit more than 200 but less than 1000. A money threshold probably isn't the way to go but I guess it's on the table.

That's not adding fuel to the fire. That's keeping us informed about news. Thanks for posting. I'm taking it to the mods-board.

Huh? Compare these two links:
This is the source-link at the iCM-list:
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/chart/top ... /?area=XWW
This is what I get when I click through the menu's on BOM:
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/chart/ww_ ... /?area=XWW
Slightly different link. Different lay-out and info. Same list, but the first one is cut at 1000 and the second one at 1014. Weird.

I just updated the BO lists. The domestic inflation adjusted is now a top 200 (like it was a while ago). The alltime worldwide list is still cut at 200M. For now there's no harm in updating the list with the old system and wait to see what IMDb does with those pages, before we make a final decision.

Not many Chinese users on the site, so those films are impossible to watch until they either get a limited international release for big city people or they hit streaming

Dying to Survive is now available online. I missed it when it played here in theatres. Don't think My People, My Country was shown for us, though.

I'm sure both films have thousands of ratings on baidu.

Those 4 new entries from before 2017, though, are odd (Knowing-2008, The Wind Rises-2013, Welcome to the Sticks-2008, and especially Genji-2001 {with only 2 checks}). I guess they include previously missed revenue?

well, there is a lot missing revenue. The Shining aparently earned 16,468 internationally. Not 16 million. 16 thousand.

Worldwide data for anything before the mid 90s is unreliable and incomplete.

I can't find these three:
https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/lie+huo+ying+xiong/
https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/zhongguo+jizhang/
https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/wo+he+wo+de+zu+guo/
Which makes sense to me since they were released less than 3 months ago. I'm sure there's cams around or something but for your average non-Chinese person they're not available. Which is fine, but it explains the lack of checks.

Just watched this last week (non-Chinese person here). No CAM at all.

Oh, and the top one is available too, so is the bottom one (which, again, even played in NL theaters). None of them CAMs.

Then again you probably don't care much for contemporary Chinese (or Asian) cinema. If you did (and some popular spots have been advertised here) getting these films is no trouble at all.

Question is, do I have to watch Ex-Files 1 and 2 before I watch Ex-Files 3 which is on the list

While I'm a little disappointed that we won't get those decade lists (I assume) and that insignificant films will keep being propped up because of inflation, I do like that this list can now serve the same purpose for popular Chinese cinema as the IMDb lists do for popular Indian cinema, by indicating some starting points.

Me too. But I do hope that if there are already some new decade lists prepared, they could be released as unofficial lists at least.

Eventually yes, but probably not until 2021, enough time for 50 movies to have enough votes/checks and have a decent rating. For reference at this moment 25 movies from 2019 have enough checks (1500), 58 movies from 2018 have enough checks.

Looking at the Asian Field Guide, I'm wondering if these might be some of the missing films:

From Korea:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5639552/
Chun Hyang-jon (1939) by Yi Miong-u
vs.
Chunhyangjeon (1935) by Lee Myeong-woo
looks really similar
I'll investigate and reply one by one, because I don't know if I can finish everything in one go.

This one looks similar indeed, but the story Chunhyangjeon has been filmed many times apparently, so we have to be sure.
https://artsandculture.google.com/exhib ... m/wQwYHVsV
According to this page the movie we're looking for here is lost. I'm not going to take a chance adding a title that might be the right one in the case of a lost movie. I'd suggest to add this title to IMDb using the page I linked to. Maybe it's a double on IMDb then, but that would be hard to proof, I think.

Thank you for looking into these Joachim.

I wasn't aware that this was a popular story filmed many time. After reading that article, though, I'm convinced more than ever that it's the same film on imdb. The imdb page has very little information and only two people credited: Yi Miong-u and Yi Pil-u as directors. "Lee Phil-woo" is mentioned as a cameraman and sound recording engineer, and he was instrumental in getting this film made (turns out it was the first sound film in Korea). "Yi" is also an alternate transcription of "Lee" as a Korean surname (more info here). Thus, the names are too similar for me to believe that they're by chance. In that article, it doesn't mention another version of the story until the 1950s (though it does say that the film has been made over 20 times, but only 17 of them are listed on the Korean Film Archive) which makes me believe that the information on imdb is incorrect and needs to be updated.

I will update the imdb page with the info found on the KFA site so that the list can be updated.

Strangely, it accepted most of my edits almost immediately, including the new release date as per the KFA, but the year still says 1939 and it didn't approve the removal of the second director. I'll try that again.

Also, going through my other recent contributions it didn't accept my runtime changes to the Sherlock series, saying "unable to verify". I'll see what I can do there.

I wish imdb sent you a message when all or part of your contribution is denied. Now I need to go back through my past contributions to see which ones took and which ones didn't.

So the New York Times 1,000 list seems to have been updated in October. I tracked down a copy of the filmography, and put it in a list here:

https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/the+ ... /panunzio/

There don't seem to be too many major changes, but there are now a number of films from the last 15 years included.

I think there's a lot wrong with that list. Vértigo (1946), Walkabout (1946), Remaking British Theater: Joan Littlewood and 'A Taste of Honey' (2016), Satyricon (1969), Sleeper (2018) and Scener ur ett äktenskap (1974) seem to be the most obvious ones.

Besides that I hope Sensation Seekers (1927) and What Do Men Want? (1921) are mistakes as well. Otherwise this'll be another list we can't complete.

Thanks for picking up on that. I know quite a few of those were just the result of a finnicky search function, and I've removed them (and replaced Satyricon and Scenes from a marriage).

For the last two, I was going off of a Letterboxd list as I don't have a copy of the book myself, so I can't really speak for them.
