Yes! Thank you, PA! The bigger list is really interesting, too, although that point system really does have its problems. The main list of 100 titles really makes a great official list though. (It's best cut there, though, because Wonder Woman is at #119. :P )

I cannot believe that La Souriante madame Beudet is only at #156. It's one of my favourite films.

I think an argument could be made to have both lists official. IW is a curated list that does well to highlight lesser known but important films that often fly under the radar, while the BBC list is a broader and widely respected (I'm assuming) critics poll that highlights a different set of films (as showcased by the fact that they only overlap by about 50%).

Plus, what's with these big polls not calculating their results properly (re: the ties for 100th place). This is the 2nd or 3rd poll like this, IIRC, where when we recalculate the results based on the individual ballots, they're different from the source's published list.

No, they calculated everything correctly. They used number of voters as a tiebreaker, Souvenir and Somewhere had 10 votes, Kids had 8, Shara had 7 and Pointe Courte had 5. The last poll I looked at (can't remember which one) also did it correctly, which is impressive, because yeah a lot of them mess up, including S&S.

Do you mean the top 10 in that link or can you find more results than that? Would be nice to update the ICM list.
So far only the top 10s are available.
I will post the translated results when I have free time.
I am looking for individual ballots so that we have the full results of the whole poll. They did publish individual ballots in the 2009 poll, but I can't one for this one.
I've shared this with my Iranian colleague (as well as the ballots from 2009) and he said he'd take a look and try to find the individual ballots for us, and if he can't do that he'll write to the magazine to try and get them.
Any update on this?

I think we should consider all possible options for the 2010s before picking one. There's also a list from IndieWire, and there will probably be lists from Film Comment, Film4, Slant Magazine, and Time Out.

Sure. Also just realized the 2000s version has 50 films while this one has 100.
Another option could be to combine the two A.V. lists together into a single "Best of the 21st Century" list. Same with the Latin American one that was released a few weeks ago.

If we are seriously considering adopting these decade-specific lists for the 2010s, I'd like us to start considering older decades as well.

Inspired by this thread, I compiled this list, based on a book dedicated to popular French cinema. This ground is admittedly already covered in the "Une histoire du cinéma français" lists, but this does have a more specific approach, could be of interest for those interested in exploring this particular aspect of French cinema.

So when I spoke to him on Thursday his response was "Sorry I completely forgot about it" but then he sent them an email right away.
Update today so far is "BTW I have send that website an email but no response up to now" and I didn't even have to ask him about it.
Hopefully we get something to work with before the year is over.

I stumbled upon this when looking up information on Salt of the Earth (1954) which has its last day on Mubi today: Martin Scorsese Unveils 38-Film Curriculum Surveying Democracy in American Cinema (from March 2018).

So I added it to icm: https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/port ... genaprido/

Looks like an interesting list, but I chuckled when I saw Scorsese included two of his own films in it. tehe

Can anyone find the whole list and individual ballots?

Does anyone have a backup of these lists, which are mentioned on the TSPDT sources page?
D.W. Griffith ... 50 Greatest Films (1930)
Alfred Hitchcock ... Miscellaneous (1939)

Also, does anyone know of any other lists that were published before 1952? Or books from before 1952 that contained film recommendations? I'm curious which films were the most critically acclaimed before the first S&S poll.

I found a bunch of yearly lists from the 20s/30s/40s etc while looking for box office info. I can give you some starting points later, if you want.

NBR has doing a Top 10 since 1929, I believe? I'm not sure it's what you are looking for, as it's very American-centric, so, it's more or less a rehash of the Oscar BP nominees for a good chunck of it's history, but, it's out there.

I know about the NBR lists and the New York Times lists. There were also yearly lists from Vintage Film Daily, starting in 1922. They were posted on the Mubi forum and I don't have a backup.

If you know of any others, please let me know. When I posted earlier I was thinking about all-time lists, but I'm interested in yearly lists as well.

I thought the NYT lists started in 1931, based on this page, but I just found some older lists on this page, and apparently they started in 1923.

iCM list is a top 160, films with 11 votes or more... Just the least interesting thing. :P I will send you the complete file.

Regarding the Nickel Odeon's polls, yeah, I have got the magazines, but genre votes have very little weight in Georgaris' calculations.

I know genre votes have little influence on the weighing. Still, it'll be nice to see what films Spanish critics are interested in.

Edit: I see there are more pages, and each page lists some films, but there's overlap, and there are also non-Korean films on page 2, so I'm not sure what the 30 films are.

Not to distract too much from all the decades best list discussions, but I thought I'd share this one I made recently based on a book I acquired:
FrightFest Guide: Werewolf Movies

I'm certainly not advocating for official status or anything. Just a fun list I thought somebody might be interested in.

The Grudge (2020) became the 20th film to get a CinemaScore of F from audiences. So I added the list to icm: https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/cine ... genaprido/

6 of the films are official, and those are either on the 21st Century list and/or TSZDT.

Also, when creating a list it says bbcode can't be used in the description, but I've seen other lists have clickable links there. Is that through html, or does bbcode actually work?

The URL tags work in list descriptions. I don't know about the other bbcode tags.
