Week 2 Fun Stats
These stats are accurate as of 9:45am GMT on 15/03/19. My apologies if you have posted an update after this point; your viewings will be included in the next lot of statistics.
I'm going to try something new this week and post my weekly stats in chunks by editing this post as I collect more and more data.
Here are the stats for Week 1
for those interested.
As we finish the second week of March, we have had 30 participants in the 2019
War Challenge. That's 8 more than this time last week. And this is still the busiest challenge this month by a massive margin. I can't measure exactly how large this is until allison successfully updates the leaderboard for her Challenge, but I can confidently say that we are absolutely knocking the other challenges out of the water. Er, I mean the battlefields.
We have collectively watched 364 feature films for the Challenge so far (excluding shorts, miniseries and television episodes). That's an average of 12.1 films for every participation - almost as much as one film per day. And that's excluding shorts and TV.
While the average film buff out there is wondering whether or not Steven Spielberg's push to have Netflix films excluded from the Oscars will succeed, here on the iCM Forum, everyone is rather keeping track of who will become the top 5 finishers (Oscar nominees) in maxwelldeux's Challenge Olympics.
72a is no longer a clear favourite to win, though he has remained ahead of PUNQ thanks to the board's resident westerns specialist placing a personal cap on the number of points he is prepared to accept from watching shorts. So, who else will round up the wartime Oscar nominees this month? Traveller are albajos neck-in-neck for 3rd and 4th and currently have five more points than any other participation. 5th slot is still up for grabs though with only six points separating max, Simba, jd and jeroeno - all of whom could easily snatch that coveted fifth spot. And who knows how many participants are secretly playing Invisible Man style?
72allinncallme is still absolutely crushing the Bonus Challenge with 9 points. The next closest competitor has 1.5 points.
Please remember that in order to participate in the Bonus Challenge you need to indicate 'DTC nominee' next to your viewings.
Who has seen the OP screencap films this month?
Congrats to both 72allinncallme and blocho for watching King Rat
Congrats to 72allinncallme for watching The Long and The Short and The Tall

The most common genre of film watched for this Challenge is War (obviously) but only 292 of the films that we have seen are list as War on IMDb (not so obviously). Next common genre is Drama (as expected), followed by Romance (rather unexpectedly). 65 of the 364 films are list as Romance on IMDb. Who says that we can't make both love AND war?
There are also 50 films listed as Comedy on IMDb, so a bit to choose from, max. Least common genres: Film Noir (1); Sci-Fi (2); Family (2). No surprises.
Keep 'em coming! Let me know if there are any other stats that you'd like included in the next update and I'll see what I can do.
NOTE: please nothing that involves importing my list into ICM since I don't have anywhere near as much free time this month.
