Dr Ball who retired in 1996. Yeah because nothing's happened since then. Oh God I just want to kill myself when I read this crap. It's like a hydra you cut 10 heads off, 10 more grow back. Congratulations though Cipp, you did manage to find almost the only person who can legitimately claim to have real academic credentials and not be funded by the fossil fuel lobby, and who believes climate change is not man made. Uh-mazing, so climate change must all be a lie...

No, sadly Cippenham genuinly believes in a Eurocommunist and Cultural Marxist conspiracy spanning the majority of politicians (including liberals and conservatives - David Cameron and Theresa May are confirmed socialists to him) and more absurdly large scale corporations.

(One of the reasons why he believes corporations are secretly pro-communist is because they are anti-racist - his words)

I don’t recall saying that as I am anti racist myself that is why I would be opposed to extreme right wing organisations.

I would indeed be happy to campaign against racism if necessary. I think we are a lot fairer in the Uk on this front than many countries and rightly so,

But You should see many of the statements from corporations, they could not really get more left wing .

Yes no point posting more on climate though as you cannot convince people who are loyal to faith and not evidence.

Let's test that by offering pamphlets explaining how to unionize to their workers.

The elites are liberal and corporations and banks are headed by people who promote left wing ideology like diversity equality and anti racism and s no blame culture. They believe in higher minimum wage to placate low wages, unlimited immigration to keep wages low and to destroy the indigenous culture and to destroy patriotism and nationalism. Those people who object are labelled racist. These people loved Tony Blair the high priest of eurocommunism. So they have adopted the Eurocommunist line and cultural Marxism absolutely. But people now want their country back and to make their own laws so that means a new movement in many countries to fight against it. Are these people left or right? Which side are you, these elites or the people?

Yup, or how they promote the workers taking over the businesses and abolishing private property.

Cipp's idea of "left wing" seems to be "anti-racist, pro gay", which is hilarious because by this definition he is left wing (if we believe him).

Can you imagine a corporate pamphlet going: "And that is why we have decided that private property is theft and will dilute the ownership to the workers"

-

The horrifying truth however is that he has been sucked in by fascist propaganda.

By believing that communists, socialists, social democrats, liberals(...) and even conservatives and capitalist corporations all want COMMUNISM (read: EVERYTHING BAD) he has essentially written off everything but "National Conservatism" (and *cough* fascism) - but as, to him, "Fascism" is "Socialism", actual, proper right wing fascism starts to seem perfectly acceptable (as they are not these liberal corporatist elite communists).

To be honest I have been trying to get through to him lately, as this is very concerning, but he sees no contradictions in his worldview, and if it had not been for the above I would not have addressed it again as I don't think there is anything we can do.

Actually, in the case of Cipp it's more like the same head you cut off again and again. He'll spout some nonsense, others will refute, he'll say that he won't post about it again as it's divisive. Two weeks later he posts the exact same nonsense.

Anti racism has become an ideology, that’s what’s wrong, but it’s ok to be against racism, don’t make yourself look good by bowing to an ideology. That what corporations do, it may not be the best way of dealing with it. They have a policy and think it’s enough. It’s down really to how individuals behave, not the company ideology to make themselves feel good.

Agreed. I'm not sure it has ever worked, here or on any other internet forum in history, but agreed anyway. Continuing to argue with somebody like cipp is a fool's game, seems to me, but then maybe some here don't have personal experience with immovable, blind to reason people - or maybe they've actually been successful at arguing with people like cipp in the past Somehow I doubt it. Some people just like to argue endlessly regardless of the outcomes.

Please shoot me if I ever mention cipp or laki again.

Funny how that guy popped up out of nowhere and Trump recognized him within minutes  Dire straits for Venezuela though - watch closely, the Chinese and the Russians have invested heavily there, i.e. 70+ bn from China and 17+ bn from Russia, they will not let it go in the air and tbh, I'm really surprized that Maduro is still in office, must be some very serious help from those countries, I see no other explanation. That said, they can probably sense that change is coming in one form or another... so timing is essential here, everything depends on the army though, if they manage to flip them, it's over.

Record turnout for “Truant for the Climate”

Meanwhile, they've founded multiple organizations for Students For Climate.

and..........pompeo just named convicted iran-contra co-conspirator elliott abrams as special envoy. an actual war criminal
As a member of George W. Bush’s National Security Council staff, Abrams encouraged, according to credible reports, a (briefly successful) military coup against the democratically elected government of Venezuela in 2002, poisoning the US relationship with that government once it returned to power.

...But these are still relative misdemeanors in the Abrams dossier, paling in comparison with the role he played in the Reagan administration. As assistant secretary of state for human rights, Abrams sought to ensure that General Efraín Ríos Montt, Guatemala’s then-dictator, could carry out “acts of genocide”—those are the legally binding words of Guatemala’s United Nations–backed Commission for Historical Clarification—against the indigenous people in the Ixil region of the department of Quiché, without any pesky interference from human-rights organizations, much less the US government.

As the mass killings were taking place, Abrams fought in Congress for military aid to Ríos Montt’s bloody regime. He credited the murderous dictator with having “brought considerable progress” on human-rights issues.

I would say that he would run away with the Worst-Person-to-Be-President award - and he's angling for beating out people like George Wallace for the Worst-Person-To-Ever-Win-Any-Electoral-Votes, or Worst Major Party Nominee. Mostly because he's stupider, more ignorant, and less interested in actually doing the job and making at least some of this country work for some of it's people, than any of his predecessors. As to the actual worst President award, as to the job he has done...it's his to lose at this point, but as horrible as he is I don't know that he's done anything yet that can't be fixed - not that it's gonna be easy. Some of the pre-Civil War Presidents including Andrew Jackson did some pretty horrible things that had long-lasting effects, and then there's Woodrow Wilson who is more responsible for the rise of the Klan and racial violence in the 20s and 30s than any other single individual. We've had a lot of bad people in the office, in part because we started out very badly, and we never really developed the kinds of social contracts and beliefs in same that western Europe did. When your whole raison d'etre is Every Man For Himself and God Gave Us This Continent - and a large percentage of your populace still believes this crap quite literally in the 21st century, it's really not hard to see why we've had people like Jackson, Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Wilson, G.W. Bush and Trump. With Saint Ayn Rand hovering over it all...

Sensational move by Trump, he can deliver his State of a union speech and in 3 weeks start completing a wall, with or without Dem support. They may as well fund him and get something in exchange. I also would agree they should rescue the poor starving people in Venezuela. It would be the morally right thing to do to get rid of those criminals in charge. My Ranking President top 10 1 Lincoln 2 Harding 3 Coolidge 4 Reagan 5 Trump 6 Jackson 7 Washington 8 Eisenhower 9 Jefferson 10 Theodore Roosevelt. In that list Trump is in no way a conservative but so far on the economy and saving the country from terrible wars and dealing with North Korea he is doing pretty well compared with alternative options . It’s not about the person but results. I agree Wilson was pretty terrible.

Some positive news from Norway, a poll released today gave the Red Party and the Socialist left 15% combined, 6.2% for the reds (highest ever) and 8.8 for the Socialists (their highest in a decade), collectively this would have made them the 3rd biggest party and would have meant 27 MPs left of Labour (169 MPs in total, 85 needed for majority).

For context:
This comes on the back of these 4 right wing party leaders (to the right, though the guy closest to them may take over the Christian Democrats) forming the first majority right wing government since the 80s (the right wingers have not been able to unite and upon winning have ruled with minority governments):
Image

What this means in practice is that the right wingers can do anything they want, and the compromise is between them is quite scary, with the Liberals attacking workers rights, the populists running immigration, the Christians having veto in questions concerning stem research and even limiting abortion rights (the liberals said they would never allow it, but jumped on it when they saw it would allow them to give tax cuts to the rich) and the social liberals grinning for reasons unknown. The one good thing about this is that, very much like Trump, they are alienating a lot of voters - and with Labour moving right more and more voters want a stronger stance against liberalism.

She had to resign in what is now called the most EMOTIONAL press conference ever in Belgium.

He actually has a point there... I've read a report claiming US sanctions have cost Venezuela upwards of $350 billion since 2014 (they have basically been cut off the international financial markets which is a massive blow)- now if this is really true it does put things in a bit different perspective, i.e. bring the country to its knees and then say "we worry about the Venezuelan people, their well being and freedom"...

To be honest, solving the crisis with a fair and open election is a pretty decent compromise, but the US and parts of the world literally blackmailing the voters (i.e. the obvious threat: "vote for Maduro and we'll starve you with sanctions") should not in any way be viewed as acceptable (and their general meddling in politics across the world, to the point of endorsing the self-elected "leader" goes beyond anything Trump is accused on in regard to "Russiagate", yet almost everyone keeps quiet about it)

(I don't want to comment on the internal conflict as there is so much contradictory information that it is incredibly hard to get a clear image of what's actually going on. That said it is clear Maduro has made decisions that, at the very least seem to, run counter to democracy).
