In this thread, we will plan the next 50 films on the Film of the Week (#251-#300) schedule.

The schedule will be based on the films you nominate and the challenges of the month. There will be 11 1000<400 films and 39 500<400 films on the final schedule. All previous FotWs are ineligible to be on the schedule again.

There will be two different nomination periods in this thread. The first set of nominations will be for films on the 500<400 list. The second set of nominations will be for films on the 1000<400 list. Any film that does not receive at least one nomination will not be considered for the FotW (#251-#300) schedule.

The first nomination period will begin now and the last day to submit your nominations will be on October 18th. You may update your nominations throughout that time. The second nomination period will begin after the 1000<400 films are revealed.

In order to submit your nominations, you can submit one of the following in this thread:
1. ICM list
2. IMDB list
3. post the text of the icm title of each film
4. post the ICM or IMDB url of each film

Each nomination/list will contain at least a minimum of 1 film and up to a maximum of 50 films. Each list will be treated as unranked and each film will receive the same amount of points (1 point). If you submit a list with more than 50 films, I will only count the first 50 eligible films. I will exclude all ineligible films when reading the lists. You can nominate films that you have seen and films that you have not seen. You may promote eligible films to be FotWs in this thread.

How the future schedule will look:
Assuming any Iberian Peninsula films are nominated, the Iberian Peninsula film that receives the most nominations will be the FoTW #251.
Assuming any LGBTIQ+ films are nominated, the LGBTIQ+ film that receives the most nominations will be the FoTW #252.
Three of the films for November will each represent one of the three following challenges: Nordic Nations; Film Noir; Criterion + Masters of Cinema.
Three of the films for December will each represent one of the three following challenges: Canada; Documentary; Forum Lists.
The official challenges for 2019 will also each be represented by a FotW.
The remaining weekly films will be determined by the highest number of nominations. If there are no nominated films that fit the theme for a challenge, then that challenge will be ignored on the FotW schedule and will be replaced by a film that receives the highest number of nominations.
The months of November - September will each contain one 1000<400 film per month. The 1000<400 film may be used to represent a challenge.
I am not an expert on all the films and all the challenge themes, so it is possible that we can discuss in here if a film fits a challenge when determining the schedule.

Here are my 50 nominations:

I exported your list on iCM.
I removed all the titles I've seen that aren't a favorite.
I removed all previous and coming (as far as scheduled) WC movies.
I removed all titles that are solely on 500<400. Not that I don't want to see those, but they have no priority for me, because they are often pretty random choices (often just a favorite of a certain group of niche lovers).
I removed all titles with more than 300 checks.
Then I was down to 50 titles, so I removed the 5 lowest ranked movies.

So what is left are my favorites that I recommend and movies that I haven't seen that I would prioritize.

xianjiro, it's a five day deadline. I will start gathering the results on Friday. Usually, the weekly FotW thread for a film is posted at a time in which it's Sunday in certain time zones and meanwhile Monday in earlier time zones. We have no film currently scheduled for next week, thus the deadline to submit nominations is not very long. If the 500<400 results would have been finished earlier, then the deadline to submit would have been longer. You can use the links in the opening post to separate the films you have already voted for or haven't seen, as well as see your ratings for the films on the list.

Armoreska, I had thoughts about excluding WC films, but I imagined that people submitting nominations would decrease the odds of a bunch WC films being selected as FotW, so I didn't include any rules excluding those films. Realistically, people will either 1): Vote for films that they haven't seen which would exclude WC films if they participated in the WC; or 2) Vote for films they have seen which haven't already been watched by a bunch of users. If I'm wrong, then there will be different rules when determining the 301+ schedule

Btw, one criticism on the previous FotW workflow was that the schedule was made a full year ahead. It seems to me that you're still planning to make a schedule and fill everything until the next 500<400 countdown. Isn't it a good idea to pick a few movies for the coming month and go from there?

We could have a revote every few months if enough people would like it to be done. I'm not opposed to the idea.

The next question would be how often we pick again. Is a month too often? I don't know how tiring it would be for people. I would like this set of nominations to at least cover the next six weeks because October is already halfway over and I prefer not having to constantly start over again during the middle of a month.

I would nominate Connections but it seems pretty cruel to nominate a 10-episode miniseries for FOTW.

Apart from that I have various lists but I'd have to scrub them for eligibility which basically means, I probably don't have enough free time to make a list of nominations.

I’m not interested enough to vote every other month...

What if Cocoa keep the schedule a secret? When I first joined the forum I thought it was. When I found out it was (openly) scheduled I lost some interest.

Then we will have a inch of excitement every month and keep interest that way (?).

The film that had the highest amount of votes that fits the Iberian Peninsula challenge is À Flor do Mar (1986).
I still need to go through all the films to see if any fits the LGBTIQ+ challenge. All I know is none of them are on the BFI Flare's Best LGBT Films of All Time list. If I can't find a film that fits the theme, then the film with the highest votes will replace the challenge theme.
I will use the above set of nomination votes for determining the schedule for November. I will set the schedule for November after we conduct a nomination vote for 1000<400 films (which we cannot do until the final 1000<400 results).

We can do another vote for nominations in the second-half of November to determine the December schedule. Anyone who didn't participate can still participate for future months.

Will you make a new schedule? I just added a link to Wrony in the old schedule. You could add the new schedule to that same topic. Maybe it's easier to have everything combined in one topic.

I'm not familiar with all of the 3-vote films, but I just watched Is-slottet this past week, and it fits the theme of the challenge.

joachimt, I will make a new schedule and will make the post in that schedule topic mentioned. I'll make the post tomorrow for the next two films (#251 & #252) and will update it monthly with each new additions to the schedule.

The 1000<400 results have concluded. We will begin the 1000<400 nomination process. The last day to submit is 01 November 2018.

Make a new post for your 1000<400 noms if you wish to participate in the 1000<400 nomination process. If you wish to edit an old post with your new nominations, you still need to make a new post telling me so.

Rules

In order to submit your nominations, you can submit one of the following in this thread:
1. ICM list
2. IMDB list
3. post the text of the icm title of each film
4. post the ICM or IMDB url of each film

Each nomination/list will contain at least a minimum of 1 film and up to a maximum of 50 films. Each list will be treated as unranked and each film will receive the same amount of points (1 point). If you submit a list with more than 50 films, I will only count the first 50 eligible films. I will exclude all ineligible films when reading the lists. You can nominate films that you have seen and films that you have not seen. You may promote eligible films to be FotWs in this thread.

Yes, after I post the November Schedule (which will be on 02 Nov 2018 or 03 Nov 2018), people may vote again for December nominations (The deadline will be longer. Probably sometime in the last week of November).

The limit for the amount of films a person can nominate will continue to be 50 films from 500<400 and 50 films from 1000<400. I will state who voted for the previous FotW films of Oct/Nov, so anyone who had voted for those films will know they can remove them and replace it on their list of nominations. A person is not required to continue to nominate the same set of films multiple months in a row, but I assume most people will keep the majority of their nominations the same.
