is it too early to volunteer to host the Banned Films challenge? I've never hosted before but that one looks pretty interesting.

Not at all. But you may have to remind us closer to June.

Also, yay! I was hoping to get February off so I had a little more time to devote to my challenge series spreadsheet. And everything got sorted out before I even woke up. Woohoo!

The challenge for Academy Award nominees, does it include all nominees or only the ones for best picture ?
Just wanted to add some movies to my watchlist.

Does anyone know if all the movies on the recent Doubling the Canon list are automaticly nominated for the new list and thus eligable for the DTC Challenge in April?

That might be up for discussion, but I'm assuming given the timing that all films on the current list and all new nominees are eligible.

Since March is shockingly close, and since we had hosts lined up a month ago, is everyone still interested and available to host?

Argh. Yes, I'm still available to host, but I don't know if I will be able to post detailed weekly updates like I did in January. Short on time lately. :(

Diffuse responsibility much, max? I can't tell from that whether you have you sent Coryn a private message to double-check his availability to host.

Well, it's not too early to volunteer to hosting the Official DTC Nominees Challenge in April*. :D In fact, I nominate you. If you want to, that is.

* I don't really want to host DTC Nominees, but I could be talked into hosting Oceania that month. :-/

I'm trying to set up some personal schedule for April so I would like to know which movies will count for the DtC challenge next month.

https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/dtc+ ... ulanarchy/ seems like a sure thing
but will all the movies on the current list still count ? https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/doubling+the+canon/

My understanding is that this is nominees only - both DtC and DtC Nominees were nominated as themes, and only nominees made it.

That was my initial thought but now I understand all kind of movies were automaticly nominated because they were on the list already. That means they're DtC nominated movies thus they should count? :circle:

Huh? No. The films in the Doubled Canon are revoted every five years (from entry date). So, the only films up for revote this year are the films that entered in the Doubled Canon in 2014.

In short, max is right. Only films in Peaceful's list are eligible for the April Challenge.

I guess the point is that the word "nominees" doesn't make sense. The list also includes revotes and drop-offs.

Unless someone has already put their name down for it, anyone object to an Australian (that being me) hosting the Australia/New Zealand/Oceania challenge in April?

The only other person mentioned was another Aussie, but I very much doubt if sol will mind you taking it, so by all means go for it!

And on that note, can I claim DtC Nominees? (72a - you still up for hosting 1940s?)

Awesome! I guess we're set:

Aus/NZ/Oceania: zzzorf
1940s: 72allinncallme
DTC Noms: maxwelldeux

I'm probably going to run a little side-game for the DtC challenge... I'll post back here for feedback once I have formulated my idea.

Here is my idea for the DtC Nominee bonus game (borrowing heavily from the 1>500<400 challenge):

The official challenge will proceed as normal with normal rules. This is just an unofficial side game with its own rules:
- To play, you must participate in the Official challenge. To participate, you must watch and record at least one film in the thread.
- You are allowed to "promote" one of your DtC nominees - it gets listed in the OP and becomes a film eligible for the bonus game.
- If you watch 5 other people's films for the bonus game, you can "promote" another film.
- If 5 other people watch your film for the bonus game, you can "promote" another film.
- No watching your own nominees for the bonus game (they, of course, count for the official challenge).
- Shorts and miniseries all count the same for the bonus challenge - use strategery when choosing what to promote.

My goals with this bonus challenge are to a) increase participation in the official challenge, and b) give a little boost to films people feel particularly strongly about. So with that in mind, is this bonus game worth doing? And if so, any thoughts/feedback on the structure of it?

Yep, the side Challenge sounds good. And interesting. Looks like I could gain enough points to potentially promote ALL of my nominees with room to spare, which would then allow me to promote other films?

I hadn't really thought about promoting others' films, but sure, I suppose that's totally possible.

Yes, I think so. I don't know if we should also permit the first thirteen films listed here?

Hilarious gif, by the way. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Cat AKA For a Few Kitten More. :P
