2021 Challenges: Voting for 2021 Options

For anyone who has not been following the threads that I have posted over the past four weeks, we are trying something new with the voting progress for 2021 Challenges this year: private message voting.

It is hoped that this will encourage participants to vote for options that they actually want to see run in 2021 rather than just options that they see as doing well. With this in mind, I would request that you do not use this thread to list which options you have voted for. Once voting has closed, I will publish a list of who voted for which options, which can then be discussed if the interest is there to do so.

33 options have progressed to the final ballot, of which we will be looking for the 16 best performing options to be placed into the 2021 schedule. Over 50% of the options on the final ballot were not run this year, and several of them are ideas that have never been run as an Official Challenge before.

Private message voting also gives us the ability to allow power voting, which cannot be done with an open poll.

You will be able to award 3 points to one option, 2 points to three options, and 1 point to remaining twelve options. You do not have to vote for sixteen options - you can vote for less. Please make it clear which options (if any) you want to power vote. Your ballot might look like this:

Once I have collected an adequate sample size of ballots, I will begin posting regular anonymous updates of which options are performing best.

Waves From Around The World would also be interesting, allowing people to zoom in on specific movements/periods from around the world, but which are still (typically) quite connected.

Sorry, missed this. Yes.

We can discuss running up to it (if approved) what movements are allowed, i.e. New German Cinema (traditionally called the German New Wave) vs. Berlin School (called the German New Wave in France) - I'd say both should count, and leave it open to all similar movements as well - but if people want a more strict focus that is also fine.

Don't forget The Ventures. I saw a doco on a tour they made of Japan once - it was fabulous. They were huge in Japan - I had no idea.

The highest rated option currently has 15 point from 10 ballots.

The sixteenth highest rated option currently has 7 points from 4 ballots.

It's really way too early to tell if these will continue to be the best performing options, but the trend so far (away from repeating 2020 options) is interesting. I have no idea how many points will be needed to enter the top 16 by the end of the voting period.
