2020 Challenges: Preliminary Poll #2

#1

Post by sol » October 2nd, 2019, 7:31 am

For the past three and a half weeks, we been discussing ideas for the 2020 Official Challenge Schedule.

The thread on this topic can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4522

In around one week's time, I will be releasing a poll for us to choose which challenge option should make the 2020 lineup. In the meantime, it is necessary for us to narrow down the dozens of genre and theme challenges proposed in order that the final poll is not too cumbersome.

On this thread, you can vote on which proposed list/actor/director/time themed options you would like to see progress to the final poll on October 9.

NOTE: Not all list/actor/direct/time themed options will be listed here since the 2019 non-permanent challenge ideas are automatically carried over to the October 9 poll.

For more information, please read the thread that I have linked to above. Just to clarify, this is a poll, not a discussion thread for ideas (that's now closed). This thread can, however, be used to clarify information regarding the ideas being voted on. And no, you don't have to vote for exactly seven options; you can vote for less. Please only vote for challenge ideas that you consider to be worthwhile for our forum to run!

Degrees of separation means that you choose to watch your next film based on an actor or actress who was in your previous film (this might extend to filmmakers too, depending on the host).

For example, you could do:

Mystic River, starring Kevin Bacon, who was also in ---> Frost/Nixon, starring Frank Langella, who was also in ---> The Box

1. Mystic River (2003)
2. Frost/Nixon (2008)
3. The Box (2009)
etc, and your 4th film with an actor from The Box - maybe Cameron Diaz, in which case you could go with The Mask (1994), Knight & Day (2010) etc

--

Single Critic Lists = the lists on iCM compiled by one critic (not a group of critics) - Maltin, Ebert, Vogel, etc

Hope that clarifies things. Thanks for asking!

Voted for 1990's, One Film For Each Year and Films From 2020. Those are the three I feel strongest about, the rest is mostly fine for me. The Films Starring Children looks like a bad choice because of the logistics but I doubt it's gonna have enough votes anyway.

bump: my votes went to 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and run the director... don't have strong feelings toward the others.
