2019's 300 Awards

Image

This award is for those who have tallied 300 total watches across all official challenges. That's 25 watches/month, with three challenges each month. And with strategic film choices that count for multiple challenges, the number of films required to reach this milestone can be greatly reduced.

After April, we had three more people crest the "300 watch" threshold. Congratulations to maxwelldeux, RogerTheMovieManiac88, and sebby for amassing 300 watches after only four months!

2019's 1066 Awards

Image

This award is for those who have tallied 1066 total watches across all official challenges. That's 89 watches/month, with three challenges each month. And with strategic film choices that count for multiple challenges, the number of films required to reach this milestone can be greatly reduced.

After April, we had no one crest the "1066 watch" threshold. Congratulations to nobody. How long until someone hits this goal? Could someone hit it after the May challenges?

2019's Nerdy Stats Awards

Image

This is a series of five awards based on cross-challenge challenge performance each month. The Top and Bottom awards can be leveled up to 12, while the measures of central tendency could (in theory) be leveled up to 36.

Top Combined Performance

Add up the number of watches from all three challenges, figure out who had the biggest number, and you have the winner of this award. So who was it this month? albajos, with 135 combined points. :worship:
Bottom Combined Performance

Add up the number of watches from all three challenges, figure out who participated in all three and had the smallest number, and you have the winner of this award. So who was the conscientious performer this month? mightysparks, with 3 combined points, accomplishing this feet in a remarkably efficient manner again. :poshclap:
Average Performance Across all Three Challenges

Looking across all three challenges, the average number of points was 20.175. So who scored closest to this value in one of the challenges this month? jdidaco with 20 points in the DtC Nominations challenge, the only score of 20 in April. :turned:
Median Performance Across all Three Challenges

Looking across all three challenges, the median number of points was 12. So who scored closest to this value in one of the challenges this month? frbrown, maxwelldeux, OldAle1, ororama, RogerTheMovieManiac88, weirdboy, and RBG, with 12 points each. :shifty:
Modal Performance Across all Three Challenges

Looking across all three challenges, the most common number of points was 1. So who scored closest to this value in one of the challenges this month? cinephage, Coryn, Eva_L, frbrown, hurluberlu, mightysparks (x3), nimimerkillinen, and shugs. And a shout-out to mightysparks who hit the trifecta again this month. :satstunned:

2019's Space Jam Awards

Image

These awards are for those strategic individuals who watched films counting for more than one challenge (and reported them in the Triples Challenge thread). Level up each time you earn this award (max 12 each).

No Australian films from the 1940s were nominated for Doubling the Cannon, so no triples in April. Therefore, no award.

But congratulations to our most voracious Doubler of the month who watched 22 films counting for two challenges: albajos

You are CRUSHING two of those stats awards. Once is cool, twice is coincidental, but thrice is damn impressive for that level of commitment.

2019's X/X Awards

Image

This award is for those people who have watched X movies for X official challenges. The first level is easy to obtain - every challenge participant will have watched at least 1 film for 1 official challenge. But each subsequent level is harder to achieve - Level Two is 2 films in each of 2 official challenges, Level Three is 3 films in each of 3 official challenges, Level Ten is 10 films watched in each of 10 official challenges, and so on.

This is my personal favorite award. It's hard to achieve some of those higher levels, and it's only going to get more interesting as the year goes on. Level 12 is currently the maximum possible award, and only 1 person, the impressive jeroeno who is going after Level 36, has achieved that. Here is a list of everyone with an award promotion this month:

Level 12 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 12 films in each of 12 official challenges: jeroeno

Level 11 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 11 films in each of 11 official challenges: albajos, maxwelldeux, sol

Level 10 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 10 films in each of 10 official challenges: jdidaco, OldAle1

Level 9 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 9 films in each of 9 official challenges: flavo5000, hurluberlu, RogerTheMovieManiac88, sebby

Level 8 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 8 films in each of 8 official challenges: ororama, weirdboy

Level 7 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 7 films in each of 7 official challenges: 72allinncallme, Lonewolf2003

Level 6 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 6 films in each of 6 official challenges: blocho, India Istanbul, peeptoad, psychotronicbeatnik, shugs

Level 5 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 5 films in each of 5 official challenges: AB537, Mate_cosido, PUNQ, sheikofhyrule

Level 4 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 4 films in each of 4 official challenges: ChrisReynolds, Nathan Treadway, Simba63, St. Gloede, Traveller, VincentPrice, zzzorf

Level 3 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 3 films in each of 3 official challenges: klaus78, RBG, Straka, Tarris1

Level 1 - Congrats to all the new participants who have watched at least 1 film for an official challenge: beavis, filmbantha, Perception de Ambiguity, rnilsson19

2019's Participation Awards

Image

This award is for those who have participated in a wide variety of challenges. It is awarded in six levels, for participating in 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, and 36 challenges. The lower threshold requires you watch only one film in a challenge; the upper threshold requires you to watch five films in each challenge.

After April, we're 12 challenges into the year, and we're at Level 3 as the highest attainable level. No new level this month.

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 9 official challenges and earned Level 3 of this award this month: Coryn, Eva_L, frbrown, ororama, zzzorf

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 4 official challenges and earned Level 2 of this award this month: AB537, ChrisReynolds, Nathan Treadway, Simba63, St. Gloede, Traveller

Congratulations go out to those new participants who watched at least 1 film for an official challenge and earned Level 1 of this award this month: beavis, filmbantha, Perception de Ambiguity, rnilsson19

Upper Threshold

But who powers through the challenges and watches at least five films, aiming for this upper threshold?

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 9 official challenges with at least five watches each and earned Level 3 of this award this month: cinephage, flavo5000, jdidaco, RogerTheMovieManiac88, sebby, weirdboy

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 4 official challenges with at least five watches each and earned Level 2 of this award this month: AB537, ChrisReynolds, frbrown, Nathan Treadway, Simba63, St. Gloede, Traveller, zzzorf

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 1 official challenge with at least five watches and earned Level 1 of this award this month: beavis, filmbantha, Perception de Ambiguity, rnilsson19

Updated 2019 Leaderboard

The fourth month of the year is now in the past, and all of the April challenges have been finalized. This means we have completed 1/3 (12) of the challenges for this year! jeroeno has maintained the early lead, and is definitely the person to beat this year, though albajos is right behind. jdidaco and flavo5000 are both doodieheads for overtaking yours truly and rounding out the top 5. In all, we've had great participation this month, with 4 new people participating in at least one of the official challenges, bringing us to a total of 75 challenge participants on the year. For the 2019 Official Challenge Leaderboard, the top 25 are below; full results can be found in the first post, and last month's results here.

I don't know if this is a first but we did get a triple norwegian podium in DtC. This month (we) got 2 golds 1 silver 2 bronze divided on 4 different users in the challenges.

We're still missing 328 so there wont be any 1066 in May. Not really sure about june either if flavo is taking a "breather".

You're probably right - I'm really curious who'll do it first...

flavo500: 738 (needs 328)
albajos: 699 (needs 367)
jeroeno: 652 (needs 414)

June still looks pretty doable - I think there might be a lot of doubles next month, so we'll have to see...

2019's Obsessed Much? Awards

Image

This threshold is for those slightly obsessive people who managed to watch 36 films for a single challenge, pacing over 1 film/day.

We had 14 slightly obsessed individuals in May - one person, jeroeno, managed to do it in all three challenges! Here is everyone who leveled up this month:

This threshold is for those very obsessive people who managed to watch 100 films for a single challenge, pacing well over 3 films/day.

We had four very obsessed individuals in May - all in the Western challenge. Congratulations to PUNQ, flavo5000, fori, and RogerTheMovieManiac88 for cresting the 100 watch threshold! flavo500 moves to Level 4, PUNQ moves to Level 2, and fori and RogerTheMovieManiac88 climbed onto the leaderboard at Level 1.

2019's 300 Awards

Image

This award is for those who have tallied 300 total watches across all official challenges. That's 25 watches/month, with three challenges each month. And with strategic film choices that count for multiple challenges, the number of films required to reach this milestone can be greatly reduced.

After May, we had four more people crest the "300 watch" threshold. Congratulations to 72allinncallme, PUNQ, Traveller, and weirdboy for amassing 300 watches after only five months!

2019's 1066 Awards

Image

This award is for those who have tallied 1066 total watches across all official challenges. That's 89 watches/month, with three challenges each month. And with strategic film choices that count for multiple challenges, the number of films required to reach this milestone can be greatly reduced.

After May, we had no one crest the "1066 watch" threshold. Congratulations to nobody. How long until someone hits this goal? Could someone hit it after the June challenges? flavo5000 is closest with 872 after the May challenges...

PUNQ, with 157 combined points (and did it with one challenge, no less). :worship:
Bottom Combined Performance

Add up the number of watches from all three challenges, figure out who participated in all three and had the smallest number, and you have the winner of this award. So who was the conscientious performer this month? 3eyes, with 13 combined points. :poshclap:
Average Performance Across all Three Challenges

Looking across all three challenges, the average number of points was 23.358. So who scored closest to this value in one of the challenges this month? Nathan Treadway and Mate_cosido with 22 points in the Western and Cannes challenges, respectively. :turned:
Median Performance Across all Three Challenges

Looking across all three challenges, the median number of points was 12. So who scored closest to this value in one of the challenges this month? OldAle1 and jdidaco, who each scored 12 points in two different challenges. :shifty:
Modal Performance Across all Three Challenges

Looking across all three challenges, the most common number of points was 4. So who scored closest to this value in one of the challenges this month? Knaldskalle, 3eyes, cinephage, weirdboy, sebby, and Straka. :satstunned:

2019's Space Jam Awards

Image

These awards are for those strategic individuals who watched films counting for more than one challenge (and reported them in the Triples Challenge thread). Level up each time you earn this award (max 12 each).

No Iranian Westerns were in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, so no triples in May. Therefore, no award.

But congratulations to our most voracious Doubler of the month who watched 9 films counting for two challenges: albajos

Level 15 is currently the maximum possible award, and only 1 person, the impressive jeroeno who is going after Level 36, has achieved that. Here is a list of everyone with an award promotion this month:

Level 15 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 15 films in each of 15 official challenges: jeroeno

Level 14 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 14 films in each of 14 official challenges: sol

Level 13 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 13 films in each of 13 official challenges: albajos

Level 12 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 12 films in each of 12 official challenges: jdidaco, OldAle1

Level 11 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 11 films in each of 11 official challenges: flavo5000

Level 10 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 10 films in each of 10 official challenges: RogerTheMovieManiac88, sebby, weirdboy

Level 9 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 9 films in each of 9 official challenges:

Level 8 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 8 films in each of 8 official challenges: 72allinncallme, Lonewolf2003

Level 7 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 7 films in each of 7 official challenges: AB537, blocho, peeptoad, psychotronicbeatnik, shugs

Level 6 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 6 films in each of 6 official challenges: allisoncm, Knaldskalle, Mate_cosido, Nathan Treadway, PUNQ

Level 5 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 5 films in each of 5 official challenges: 3eyes, Coryn, frbrown, Simba63, Traveller, VincentPrice

Level 4 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 4 films in each of 4 official challenges: Tarris1

Level 3 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 3 films in each of 3 official challenges:

Level 2 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 2 films in each of 2 official challenges: fori, Obgeoff

Level 1 - Congrats to all the new participants who have watched at least 1 film for an official challenge: burneyfan, Renegade

After May, we're 15 challenges into the year, and we're at Level 3 as the highest attainable level. No new level this month.

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 9 official challenges and earned Level 3 of this award this month: 72allinncallme, Lonewolf2003, shugs

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 4 official challenges and earned Level 2 of this award this month: Daviddoes, Straka, Tarris1

Congratulations go out to those new participants who watched at least 1 film for an official challenge and earned Level 1 of this award this month: burneyfan, Obgeoff, Renegade

Upper Threshold

But who powers through the challenges and watches at least five films, aiming for this upper threshold?

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 9 official challenges with at least five watches each and earned Level 3 of this award this month: 72allinncallme, blocho, ororama

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 4 official challenges with at least five watches each and earned Level 2 of this award this month: Tarris1

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 1 official challenge with at least five watches and earned Level 1 of this award this month: burneyfan, Obgeoff

Updated 2019 Leaderboard

The fifth month of the year is now in the past, and all of the May challenges have been finalized. This means we have completed 5/12 (15) of the challenges for this year! jeroeno has maintained the early lead, and is definitely the person to beat this year, though albajos is right behind. In all, we've had great participation this month, with 3 new people participating in at least one of the official challenges, bringing us to a total of 78 challenge participants on the year. For the 2019 Official Challenge Leaderboard, the top 25 are below; full results can be found in the first post, and last month's results here.

Level 14 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 14 films in each of 13 official challenges: sol
I hate to chime in with a correction when you do such a great job maintaining these detailed stats, but that should be 14 in 14.

Cool. Happy to get a win, and looking forward to the next time we have an extremely low-turnout, low-viewing challenge so I can make the attempt again.

I suspect this will be my high-water mark for a long time - don't see myself moving any higher in the rankings unless max or Roger cut way back, and there's a good chance I'll lose a step this month. Slightly bummed that I missed the 300 cutoff by just a couple, but I guess given the issues I had in May I should be happy just to have made some of my goals. Thanks as always for the awesome stats max!

Well, you lost the "top ranked player without a win" with the Iran win. That title goes now to Sebby. So you win some, you lose some

Level 14 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 14 films in each of 13 official challenges: sol
I hate to chime in with a correction when you do such a great job maintaining these detailed stats, but that should be 14 in 14.
Yeah, that's my favorite award to track and look at, and my least favorite to post, because I have to remember to change three things in every line. Really need to work on automating that one.

Cool. Happy to get a win, and looking forward to the next time we have an extremely low-turnout, low-viewing challenge so I can make the attempt again.
I was thinking about this the other day.
Maybe we could do a couple of challenges next year where the maximum is 36, so we can have multiple winners and it's not just about who has the most time to watch a shitload of movies.

Something like:
- Watch 36 movies from the year you were born
- Watch 1 movie from 36 different countries in Europe
- Watch 1 movie from each of the last 36 years
- Watch 1 movie from 36 different lists under the "country" tab on ICM

Maybe even 12 of these so maxwelldeux can make some more awards for me to win (l)

delighted to have made it to the bottom at last! Also, i had no idea I had conquered 4 modes - dorian, phrygian, lydian and mixolydian, with only 3 to go before we get away from diatonics.

The IMDb Horror Board had something similar with the annual October challenge where the goal was to watch 31 horror movies with at least 16 being first time views. That's just an average of one a night which should be fairly accessible. Not everyone made it but there were a lot of people who still went overboard and watched outrageous numbers of movies anyway.

Congrats on your progress as overall leader so far this year, Jeroeno. I admire that you are keeping your average rank in challenges under 5 - something I strive to do. I think I started feeling a bit burnt out about this time last year but you seem to have a great attitude.

2019's 300 Awards

Image

This award is for those who have tallied 300 total watches across all official challenges. That's 25 watches/month, with three challenges each month. And with strategic film choices that count for multiple challenges, the number of films required to reach this milestone can be greatly reduced.

After June, we had one more person crest the "300 watch" threshold. Congratulations to OldAle1 for amassing 300 watches after only six months!

After June, we had no one crest the "1066 watch" threshold. Congratulations to nobody. But it's almost certain to happen after the July challenges...

So who was it this month? jdidaco, with 158 combined points. :worship:
Bottom Combined Performance

Add up the number of watches from all three challenges, figure out who participated in all three and had the smallest number, and you have the winner of this award. So who was the conscientious performer this month? sebby, with 10 combined points. :poshclap:
Average Performance Across all Three Challenges

Looking across all three challenges, the average number of points was 18.398. So who scored closest to this value in one of the challenges this month? weirdboy with 18 points in the 1950s challenge, respectively. :turned:
Median Performance Across all Three Challenges

Looking across all three challenges, the median number of points was 10. So who scored closest to this value in one of the challenges this month? OldAle1, Eva_L, sheikofhyrule, and albajos, who each scored 10 points in one of the challenges. :shifty:
Modal Performance Across all Three Challenges

Looking across all three challenges, the most common number of points was 5. So who scored closest to this value in one of the challenges this month? allisoncm, cinephage, flavo5000, hurluberlu, maxwelldeux, RogerTheMovieManiac88 (x2), and zzzorf. :satstunned:

2019's Space Jam Awards

Image

These awards are for those strategic individuals who watched films counting for more than one challenge (and reported them in the Triples Challenge thread). Level up each time you earn this award (max 12 each).

With some Eastern European films from the 1950s that were banned at the national level, we had some triples in June. Congrats to blocho for watching two such films, winning the Triple challenge!

And congratulations to our most voracious Doubler of the month who watched 23 films counting for two challenges: jeroeno

Level 18 is currently the maximum possible award, and only 1 person, the impressive jeroeno who is going after Level 36, has achieved that. Here is a list of everyone with an award promotion this month:

Level 18 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 18 films in each of 18 official challenges: jeroeno

Level 17 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 17 films in each of 17 official challenges: sol

Level 14 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 14 films in each of 14 official challenges: albajos

Level 12 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 12 films in each of 12 official challenges: maxwelldeux

Level 11 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 11 films in each of 11 official challenges: RogerTheMovieManiac88

Level 10 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 10 films in each of 10 official challenges: hurluberlu

Level 9 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 9 films in each of 9 official challenges: 72allinncallme, Lonewolf2003

Level 8 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 8 films in each of 8 official challenges: AB537, blocho, peeptoad, shugs

Level 7 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 7 films in each of 7 official challenges: cinephage, Mate_cosido

Level 6 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 6 films in each of 6 official challenges: sheikofhyrule, Simba63, Traveller, VincentPrice, vortexsurfer

Level 5 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 5 films in each of 5 official challenges: ChrisReynolds, morrison-dylan-fan, St. Gloede, Tarris1, zzzorf

Level 4 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 4 films in each of 4 official challenges: mathiasa

Level 3 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 3 films in each of 3 official challenges: blueboybob

Level 2 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 2 films in each of 2 official challenges: Cinepolis

Level 1 - Congrats to all the new participants who have watched at least 1 film for an official challenge: Mario Gaborović, wowwee123

Image

This award is for those who have participated in a wide variety of challenges. It is awarded in six levels, for participating in 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, and 36 challenges. After June, we're 18 challenges into the year, and we're at Level 4 as the highest attainable level. This is a new level we've unlocked.

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 16 official challenges and earned Level 4 of this award this month: 3eyes, albajos, allisoncm, blocho, cinephage, flavo5000, hurluberlu, jdidaco, jeroeno, Knaldskalle, maxwelldeux, OldAle1, RogerTheMovieManiac88, sebby, sol, weirdboy

Upper Threshold

But who powers through the challenges and watches at least five films, aiming for this upper threshold?

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 16 official challenges with at least five watches each and earned Level 4 of this award this month: albajos, flavo5000, jdidaco, jeroeno, maxwelldeux, OldAle1, sol

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 9 official challenges with at least five watches each and earned Level 3 of this award this month: AB537, allisoncm, Lonewolf2003, peeptoad, shugs

Congratulations go out to those who have participated in at least 4 official challenges with at least five watches each and earned Level 2 of this award this month: Eva_L, morrison-dylan-fan

Updated 2019 Leaderboard

The sixth month of the year is now in the past, and all of the June challenges have been finalized. This means we have completed 1/2 (18) of the challenges for this year! jeroeno has maintained the early lead, and is definitely the person to beat this year, with albajos staying right behind in 2nd place. In all, we've had great participation this month, with 3 new people participating in at least one of the official challenges, bringing us to a total of 81 challenge participants on the year. For the 2019 Official Challenge Leaderboard, the top 25 are below; full results can be found in the first post, and last month's results here.
