I'm actually missing 22 on iCM Forum's Favorite Nordic movies. So maybe I'll do those.
Rest of the month it's happy holidays!

Woohoo!

My only complaint is that the Christmas movies list is not on ICM. Which is clearly a travesty.

And yay that documentary list!

you get a poshclap for that one, mate.

Alicia Witt is in a surprising number of those, wow.

I might have to do a full numbers breakdown, but it looks like the woman wears red far more frequently than the dude. this is probably because red is a sex color. or something.

also, I'm in. probably just because the forum christmas list looks sick and I've 19 for plats! actually, fewer than that, there's a couple I haven't checked.

Am I lazy, or would a single "meta-list" be helpful for this challenge? One with all the films from all the lists so we could only check one spot...

I’m not going to bother. Probably have to be several lists too unless you make an IMDb list.

Good point - after I posted, I started thinking through the logistics, and it would be super unwieldy to work with. I have the 1001 ICM Forum Favorites list open pretty much all the time, and that list alone causes me enough frustration.

It starts!

1. Stories We Tell (2012)

Image

Many fascinating themes and ideas come to light here, most notably how it is impossible to ever really "get at the truth" when truth only exists as conflicting memories and testimonies rather than recorded events. There is also an acute bit in which a relative asks Polley what she thinks that her film is going to be about before apologising for "breaking the fourth wall". With everything conveyed through verbal recounts (as opposed to intimate interviews), the film is a little emotionally distanced, but this was a pretty cool first film to watch this month.

I guess both of you have seen documentaries from the Documentary forum list, but it is absolutley nice if everyone share what list they are working on, that might help us out checking out that list out ourselves when we have a jungle of them.

This. Forgot to put that in the OP. It’s optional ofc, but yes, please include the list you watched it for :)

I may miss a few points over this month as that is a lot of lists to check if a movie I watch is on them but I will try my best. I am only going to state the first list I find them on so if they do happen to be on multiple lists than oh well.

1. Manufactured Landscapes (2006, Canada List)

I'm mostly going to be hitting the Documentary and Canada lists, but I'm going to be heavy into the docs, so my viewings will appear on a bunch of random lists.

You might want to leave a bigger buffer. That one movie you didn't watch might fall off the list and be replaced by one you saw already. :ph43r:

I never know when to say movie or film, and if i check what lists are eligible, i notice that almost half of the lists are called movie lists and the other half film lists, like there is no consequent approach to what term to use?

(51,6%) iCM Forum's Top 250 Favourite Movies of the Current Decade So Far #192

It's so odd seeing Andrew Dice Clay popping up in the more serious movies in the later years.

Don't know how much I'll be able to do, but probably will focus on LGBT, Nordic, Unofficial and Christmas.

Boy, do we love ourselves...Show
1. Manufactured Landscapes (2006, Canada List)
2. White Christmas (1954, Christmas List)

Putting up the decorations today, so what better time to throw on a Christmas movie? A few of the musical scenes and performances were interesting and fun to watch, but the rest of the movie was pretty boring.
