111. Inception (2010)

What a magnificent movie. The combination of a rich imagination and superb special effects almost entirely makes me forget about the few minor flaws. I love Hans Zimmer's score too.

lost track of numbering long ago, but:

L'horloger de Saint-Paul (1974, Tavernier)

I read a review of this when it first came out and watched it on a small black & white TV - Absolutely didn't get it.

As happens not infrequently, of late, I wonder how much is a result of me mellowing and how much is due to my having watched so many more movies in the years since alternatives to theater viewing proliferated. And, of course, 10 years on this forum. Anyway... So glad I saw it again.

There you go. I copy-pasted the titles from IMDb, so the countries of production are missing here. Also, forgive me for leaving out the TV episodes (from Foyle's War) - they usually don't count towards challenge totals.

65. The ruling class (UK 72) - This one really grows on me. First saw it in a theater - it spoke to my preoccupation with our cultural death-worship. The friend I went with was horrified.

66. Young and innocent (UK 37) - only Josephine Tey film I've ever seen but I see that there are others, some serialized.

67. Cat Ballou (65) - this wears better than I expected. Thoroughly enjoyed, especially Lee Marvin.

112. Blade Runner (1982)

Rutger Hauer's acting and Vangelis's score are what I liked best about the movie. I could have done with a bit less darkness, steam and rain though.

113. True Grit (2010)

Hailee Steinfeld shines as Mattie, a clever, determined 14-year-old with a rich vocabulary who manages to impose her will on adults. But I like how she shows her age at times as well. Jeff Bridges is great too, although it wouldn't hurt if he'd speak a little clearer. Cinematography and soundtrack are both outstanding.

68. I’m all right, Jack (UK 59)
69. Hobson’s choice (UK 54)
70. Les 12 travaux d'Astérix (Fr 76)
71. Le roi et l'oiseau (Fr 80)
72. Fargo (96)
73. The razor’s edge (46)

Well, I get tired of saying how much I didn't remember from previous watches.

The razor's edge
, though: I'm sure I saw it in the 60s maybe, but I don't remember how or where. I had read the book not long before. I remembered it as pretty lightweight and when it surfaced on Criterion I decided to see what I had missed. Answer: the point.

BTW, I finally figured out how to listen to podcasts and tuned in to the TALKING POINTS episode on rewatching. I was somewhat hampered by lack of subtitles or ability to lipread, but it was fun to hear your voices. (Mighty, Sol, and ---?)

I kid you not, this is one of my worst nightmares. :ph43r:
Of course it happened more when I watched cable TV and didn't have the fail-safe of rating films on IMDb and checking them on ICM ..
