Hah! That's hilarious. And you're right - you're the only one to conquer both challenges (I checked).

Random fun fact: The first Australian Challenge on this forum was in 2012. mightysparks won that with 48 watches. Second place? Three (3) watches.

That is an interesting fun fact. My two wins were probably pretty low totals overall. I know I didn't break 100 in either of them. Other challenges have had some massive watch totals. Congrats to those folks who break 100. They're really impressive.

I was wondering, but decided not to pressure you (I'm a bit snowed under myself at work at the moment; hoping that will clear up tomorrow).

That reminds me: I need to prepare my acceptance speech for my Alfred Hitchcock Oscar. :shifty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nOSvpnCFTs

2018's 300 Awards

Image

This award is for those who have tallied 300 total watches across all official challenges. That's 25 watches/month, with three challenges each month. And with strategic film choices that count for multiple challenges, the number of films required to reach this milestone can be greatly reduced.

After July, we had three new people crest the "300 watch" threshold. Congratulations to blueboybob, vortexsurfer, and weirdboy for amassing 300 watches across all official challenges!

2018's Obsessed Much? Awards

Image

This award is for those slightly obsessive people who manage to watch 100 films for a single challenge.

We had four obsessed individuals in July - two massively obsessed individuals, and two newly obsessed ones. Congratulations to blueboybob, wasabi, flavo5000, and psychotronicbeatnik for cresting the 100 watch threshold! blueboybob hit 139 in the DtC challenge (more than doubling 2nd place). wasabi his 105 in the China/HK/Taiwan challenge. And flavo500 and psychotronicbeatnik got obsessed with some Action, hitting 118 and 101, respectively. This is psychotronicbeatnik's and flavo500's 5th 100-watch challenge this year, moving to Level 5, and first for both blueboybob and wasabi, who both move to Level 1.

Wait a minute, even I think flavo is obsessed and I am on the same level as him?!

Congrats on your fifth 100 of the year, flavo! It's always a pleasure competing in the same challenges as you even though that's pretty much a guarantee that I will not win.

And keep these awards coming, Maxwell. They too are always a pleasure to read.

2018's X/X Awards

Image

This award is for those people who have watched X movies for X official challenges. The first level is easy to obtain - every challenge participant will have watched at least 1 film for 1 official challenge. But each subsequent level is harder to achieve - Level Two is 2 films in each of 2 official challenges, Level Three is 3 films in each of 3 official challenges, Level Ten is 10 films watched in each of 10 official challenges, and so on.

This is my personal favorite award. It's already starting to get hard to achieve some of those higher levels, and it's only going to get more interesting as the months go on. And we finally cracked psychotronicbeatnik! Level 21 is currently the maximum possible award, and no one has achieved that level. Here is a list of everyone with an award promotion this month:

Level 20 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 20 films in each of 20 official challenges: psychotronicbeatnik

Level 17 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 17 films in each of 17 official challenges: 72allinncallme

Level 16 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 16 films in each of 16 official challenges: jdidaco, jeroeno, Mate_cosido, sol

Level 15 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 15 films in each of 15 official challenges: maxwelldeux, OldAle1

Level 13 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 13 films in each of 13 official challenges: RogerTheMovieManiac88

Level 12 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 12 films in each of 12 official challenges: 3eyes, flavo5000, hurluberlu, weirdboy

Level 10 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 10 films in each of 10 official challenges: India Istanbul, vortexsurfer

Level 8 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 8 films in each of 8 official challenges: nimimerkillinen, peeptoad

Level 7 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 7 films in each of 7 official challenges: ChrisReynolds, clemmetarey, klaus78, morrison-dylan-fan

Level 6 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 6 films in each of 6 official challenges: VincentPrice

Level 5 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 5 films in each of 5 official challenges: blueboybob, Daviddoes, funkybusiness, Hippiemans, ororama

Level 4 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 4 films in each of 4 official challenges: albajos, mathiasa

Level 3 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 3 films in each of 3 official challenges: shugs, Tarris1, zzzorf

Yeah, this one is doing my head in. I think I predicted some weeks ago that Level 23 is the highest level that I am likely to reach this year, but haven't rechecked all my previous scores to work out the maths for that. Certainly, this is something that I am going to try harder to master next year - and this is my favourite award too because (unlike the Hitchcock Oscars etc.), I can never accurately predict my performance here until you post an update. tehe

This is my personal favorite award

...

Level 16 - Congrats to all the participants who have watched at least 16 films in each of 16 official challenges: jdidaco, jeroeno, Mate_cosido, sol
Yeah, this one is doing my head in. I think I predicted some weeks ago that Level 23 is the highest level that I am likely to reach this year, but haven't rechecked all my previous scores to work out the maths for that. Certainly, this is something that I am going to try harder to master next year - and this is my favourite award too because (unlike the Hitchcock Oscars etc.), I can never accurately predict my performance here until you post an update. tehe
Likely and possible are definitely two different things, but my eyeballing gives you a possibility to hit level 27 if you hit at least 27 in all the remaining challenges, including this month's.

Of course, now I want to build a spreadsheet to calculate this... :circle:

For the 2018 Official Challenge Leaderboard, the top 25 are below; full results can be found in the first post.
Is that accurate? The first post still says I only have 100 watches. I know I have mroe than that.

It also says he hasn't edited it since July 5th. So, he hasn't updated it yet.

Well, I don't think I will hit over 20 watches for more than two challenges in any of the upcoming months (except maybe December), so 27 subtract 4 = 23, which may have been how I estimated this; can't quite remember. But a lot of it also boils down to whether I actually got in 23+ viewings in most of the completed Challenges this year. Mmm.

Crikey. I knew that I would overtake Mate with this latest update, and I suspected that it would be possible to overtake yourself too, Max. But I never in my life dreamed that I would overtake jeroeno given that he watches something crazy like five films every single day. Anyway, all I can do is enjoy being #4 while it lasts. I am currently getting slaughtered in this month's Challenges - and it is only 9 days in - and I doubt I'll be getting a large slate of spare time for madcap movie watching any time soon. :pinch:

Yeah, that was a "I forgot to delete a row" error. They both moved from 9 to 10, and I forgot to remove the row for level 9 (no one got promoted to that level). Fixed it above.

Yeah, I just haven't gotten to it yet. I'll get to updating the OP and All-Time board tonight. I just ran out of steam last night.

@bbb: You're ranked 31, with 147 points, 5 challenges participated in, 320 total watches, average rank of 9, and 1 win.

No worries - this was actually the first month I've posted the last award without having the OP updated within 5 minutes. A confluence of RL shit hit...

Anyway, 'tis updated now.

2018's 300 Awards

Image

This award is for those who have tallied 300 total watches across all official challenges. That's 25 watches/month, with three challenges each month. And with strategic film choices that count for multiple challenges, the number of films required to reach this milestone can be greatly reduced.

After August, we had three new people crest the "300 watch" threshold. Congratulations to 3eyes, albajos, and Eve-Lang-El-Coup for amassing 300 watches across all official challenges!

2018's Obsessed Much? Awards

Image

This award is for those slightly obsessive people who manage to watch 100 films for a single challenge.

We had four obsessed individuals in August - two massively obsessed individuals, two doubly-obsessed individuals, and two newly obsessed ones. Congratulations to albajos, maxwelldeux, flavo5000, and psychotronicbeatnik for cresting the 100 watch threshold!

albajos hit 160 in the 1990s-2010s challenge and 140 in the <400 challenge, hitting Level 2 of this award in a single month. flavo500 also doubled up in the 1990s-2010s and <400 challenges, hitting 149 and 132, respectively, moving to Level 7. psychotronicbeatnik (Level 6) and maxwelldeux (Level 1) were also obsessed with the 1990s-2010s, hitting 101 and 100, respectively.

2018's Close, But No Cigar Awards

Image

This award is for those brave souls who fought the good fight, but ultimately fell just short of the victory, landing in second place for an official challenge.

Almost congratulations to flavo5000 for finishing in 2nd place in the 1990s-2010s challenge, earning a first second and Level 1 of this prestigious award.

Almost congratulations to flavo5000 AGAIN! for finishing in 2nd place in the <400 challenge, earning a second second and Level 2 of this prestigious award.

Almost congratulations to psychotronicbeatnik for finishing in 2nd place in the Middle East challenge, earning a fifth second and Level 5 of this prestigious award.
