So, there's no protocol in place for a tie after the first extension? May I suggest we move to sudden death at that point?

I say the two managers qualify and we have a three films final.

This is the most practical solution.

Probably close to the deadline since I have to work all day Saturday, but I should get them in before the weekend is up.

Sudden death sounds like a good solution to me.

Why not results in previous stages?

I saw Joachim's call out in the film lounge.

I would rate the films,
1. Chiyari Fuji
2. Pool of London

I decided to go with sudden death in case there's still a tie. It's a practical and logical solution. Penalties would be more in line with the socces World Cup, but it's too complicated. Sudden death just makes sense.

If there's still a tie at the end of the extension, I'll make an announcement in the film lounge again to attract voters. The first vote will decide the winner then.

Sounds like a regular sporting rule; I like it. :poshclap:

1. Chiyari Fuji
2. Pool of London

I quite enjoyed Pool of London, and it would get my vote if it was matched against the USA, but Chiyari Fuji is absolutely extraordinary.
Thanks for the picks!

Two votes lead for Japan now. Only the second time that this happened (first time was at 1-3). Is this the final blow for England?

Deadline over. Japan wins.

Congratulations to monty. Also thanks to funkybusiness for his pick and to the 41 people who voted. Special thanks to the 7 people who voted after the first deadline, so we could actually get a result in this match.

monty and filmbantha have five days to select their final movie. Deadline is March 30th. I'll start the final on March the 31st.

Thanks to everyone who voted. And thanks to funky for an inspired choice - this match has to be the most exciting in Cup history what with all the back and forth! Here's hoping the final match will be as eventful.

I made a graph of it. The red dot is the original deadline. There was a difference of three votes only once in the entire match.

And the movie that made it - lost out in the end.
