1. Buto to gunkan 豚と軍艦 (Pigs and Battleships) - 1961 - Shohei Imamura
2. Rapt (The Kidnapping) - 1934 - Dimitri Mirasanoff
3. Der Knochenmann (The Bone Man) - 2009 - Wolfgang Murnberger
Japan and Switzerland were close enough that my ranking may change if I watched them on a different day. I also like Der Knochenmann too, but I doubt it's a movie I'm going to think about much after today.

2. Buto to gunkan
3. Rapt
I think Der Knochenmann will turn out to be a favourite. Could have well been a Scandinavian film, it has this typical black humour I dig quite a bit.

Btw, I really like the Brenner character. Having seen all the films in the series, I wonder if Austria's manager ever considered Silentium?

Wow, really glad I logged in here tonight -- I'd watched all three films, but I'd been thinking the deadline was the 4th or 5th, not tonight!

Hard round to rank, because I liked all of them about the same. Thanks to monty, Nathan, and metaller!

There is a slight slope, but I hope people aren't getting tired. only one more pool of three and then it's on to the head to head's, with the best movie-countries in the world!

When is Round 3 scheduled? January?
2H ends on December the 16th. How much time do managers need to make the next pick? Most of the managers can already work on that. Only the three managers of 2H don't know if they should select something. I think it should be doable to have managers submit their picks before the end of 2018 and start somewhere around the end of the year.

i'd like to thank my fellow managers for putting up a great fight - I really didn't think I was gonna bag this considering how the initial votes went.
Anyhow, thanks to all who participated this round. I'm gonna do my best to make things interesting in the next round, too.
Btw, would it be possible to list the winners of Round 2 so far?

At this stage it could/should just be random, right?
And should I make sure countries won't compete again to the same country as in R1? USA and Poland for example.

I don't feel like taking average ranking into account, because it's not very meaningful anymore. One lousy movie in a group results in higher average rankings for the other two. That doesn't necessarily mean the winner from such group did better than movies from other groups.

I vote for a semblance of order even if average rank matters little now. How bout R1+R2 points? But I bet that would disadvantage USA still who got "lucky" facing off both France and Poland (beating only one).
Or how bout a vote as to which country belongs in which pot?
btw Croatia and Burkina Faso were also in the same group. (yeah i know Cro still has to win.) i'm not sure if that matters, but why not keep them separate for this round?
PPS How did Poland end up in Original Pot 2? It's a WC winner. All finalists should forever be Pot 1. Unless of course it'll be Burkina Faso this time.

Spoiler
Pot 1 England-Poland-Japan-Greece
Pot 2 Germany-Croatia-USA-BF (last two having lost once already, altho USA is still as formidable as the other pot 1 countries)

Let's do a poll about this without making a poll, because I can't ask more than one question in a poll. Anyone who's interested enough, answer the questions below.
1. Should there be pots based on previous results (R2 or R1+R2)? Yes or no.
2. Should there be a restriction on countries competing the same country as in R1? Yes or no.
Just answer yes or no for both questions by posting.

In case we agree on Pots 1&2... well, most likely there will be 5 countries that didn't lose yet, so I think the weakest total vote ratio should decide which country will join Germany/USA/Burkina Faso.

At this point completely random is probably the best way to go. We'll be down to 8 countries; at some point, you'll have to get rid of completely avoiding rematches. If we were going to go that route, we should structured it differently from the get-go.
