2. O drakos 7-
3. Belle Epoque 5
Once again I'm backing the bottom movie.
Spain never stood chance with me with this typical meandering slice of family life. Funny it's also the most checked film ever to take part.
This leads to Spain losing its unique standing as a semifinalist of each WC.
Japan is now the only country with a chance of making all 3 QFs.

I'm only 29th voter this late?

1. Spain - Belle Epoque - 7.5-8ish
2. Brazil - Bicho de Sete Cabeças/Brainstorm - 7-7.5ish
3. Greece - O drakos/The Ogre of Athens - 6-6.5ish

Started out with O drakos, thinking it would be the best of the bunch. I really don't get the appeal of this one. The premise great, but the execution is just too choppy and jarring, and most of the acting is so overthetop and melodramatic it hurt my eyes. Overall, very disappointing.

Moved on to Bicho, and this held my attention more. I think it could have been another 20-30 minutes longer and I still would have enjoyed it. The breakneck speed of the plot holds it back, though the expose of mental institutions and Santoro's performance held it afloat. Infuriating how misinformation and institutional corruption can lead the the destruction of humanity.

Finished with Belle Epoque, which I approached cautiously, as it seemed like an overly sentimental dramedy. Was pleasantly surprised that it turned out to be a raunchy dark comedy. Knowing just how horrible things in Spain would get shortly thereafter, it made the lighthearted happiness that much more bittersweet. Glad I finally saw this. While Sanz is adorable and Fernán Gómez formidable, it's the women who make this film for me, capped off with a hilarious turn by Ramírez.

Must admit that Tommy is doing very well as a manager.
Still remember the Egyptian miracle last season.
And Greece attended twice in the past but got kicked out in the group stage. Its fate is completely different this season, and so far so good.

It only lost with Ilektra because it went up against Voskhozhdeniye. If Tommy were so lucky, he wouldn't have made it.
