When I heard K-Pop for the first time, I felt Psy is Mozart. :whistling:

At least his songs are catchy; this is just... like a glass of lukewarm water, bread seven days old, or chips you've found behind the sofa.

I wonder...will Splish Splash earn the distinction of becoming the most unpopular and disliked Cup entry ever? It certainly stands a fair chance of that the way things are looking now...

Could just as well be. So far cocoa is the only one who didn't rank it #4 and he didn't even like the movie as well.

Btw, since you've seen it, will you be voting this match?

Why would one suffer through SSL and not vote?

When I said my initial comments about this, mjf said that I must hate fun.

That may be true, but if this is what fun is I'd much rather be a depressed and boring fuck.

This forum's taste is hard to predict. It has a good rating on both Douban and MyDramalist. Outside this forum, almost all Splash Splash Love reviews are positive.

Wherein precisely lies the appeal for you? The male lead? The female lead? The K-pop tunes? The soppy love story?

I don't remember the music but I liked both leads, the time traveling, the silliness, the math and science, the hangul, and the tteokbokki. The romance was ok but it wasn't my favorite part of the story.

I liked the scenes, but I don't like the food very much (I ate it once in a Korean restaurant).

I loved most parts of Padurea spânzuratilor. It has some great shots, especially in the war-scenes. The quality wasn't up that level the whole time, so I thought it was a tad too long, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.

25 Watts wasn't bad, but didn't do a lot to me.

Already posted about SSL.

I watched Megáll az idö four years ago. No need for a rewatch though, because the ratings were clear enough.

1. Padurea spânzuratilor 9-/10
2. Megáll az idö 7+/10
3. 25 Watts 6/10
4. Splash Splash Love 4/10

1. 25 Watts - 6.5/10
2. Padurea spânzuratilor - 6.5/10
3. Splash Splash Love - 6.5/10
4. Megáll az idö - 5.5/10

None of the movies really gripped me.

So far it looks like Megall and 25 Watts will be battling for 2nd place.
I think this will remain close:

So, 25 Watts was the only one I enjoyed enough to give it a rewatch someday. That means: not a great round, for me. Both Romania and Hungary have much better films. I hope they both do get through, so those films can be picked for the next rounds. :)

btw, talking about Romanian films, I just download the film Rascoala, but there is no subtitles.

Does anyone have interest in the translation work?

Also, I wonder if mjf has watched this before. Somehow the plot of Splash Splash Love reminds me this anime I watched during my childhood.

No Romanian forum members here as far as I know. Plus the language is way too distant from anyone's maternal one.

This remind me another one I watched when I was young: The Twelve Kingdoms and Red River. They might got ideas from Crest of the Royal Family（1976 - now?）, that's the oldest time travel comic book I know...

Megall az ido: I loved this film; however, it is so flawed. The story is all over the place. It's almost like a puzzle that repeats itself and doesn't follow its own rules. The amazing thing about it is the technical part. The director tried so many techniques that made the movie a bit schizophrenic but I gave him a pass on how great he did it. All the photography angles, shots, styles, etc. The use of music was perfection. The characters created, situations, etc.

I don't know which came first but this movie reminds me a lot of some Asian directors, specially Wong Kar-Wai. The inside shots with the saturation of colors, the camera angles, the retro music tied to the romance, the fatalism of love, etc.

Look at it this way: there's a much better probability for European countries simply statistics-wise, because quantity produces quality + in this case, tradition plays the role. Since Uruguay and South Korea are pretty much late bloomers compared to the other two, this shouldn't surprise you.
