Congrat, Sorti🎊🎉👏

Also brilliant as the only manager who is able to enter the finale in both seasons.

My only gripe is that I'd have loved to see more recent Italian cinema being picked but I guess that would have been too risky a venture. Better safe than sorry, right?

Well, I'm veeery happy! It was great to have such an excellent contender in the final, it makes victory even more valuable. So big thanks to all who supported me with their votes. Thanks for the compliments too. And to joachimt and Mario for their essential dedication. Hopefully I've contributed to increase love for Italian cinema, discover a few gems and made this competition more gratifying. See you next season?

10 rounds. I'll have perfect attendance next round. (We are doing this again, right?)

So far 60 countries participated, and Spain performed best in average: 10 wins and 2 losses.
I'm interested which one would sortile9io pick next time. In his place, I'd change.

Meanwhile we could do a single-genre cup, like a sex comedy one?

So what are you saying, that you won't host a single genre cup or is it just a sex comedy cup you're against?

I won't host a genre cup, because I don't support a cup movies from only one genre.

But maybe do a poll if there should be a poll first. People should be as ready as possible for these big happenings.

If it's just a comedy cup and it's smaller in scope (16-24 countries) I'd be interested. If it's Sex Comedies then that's too specific a genre and I wouldn't participate. A genre cup that lasts a year would also not be of interest to me.

I have maintained 100% participation across the two cups but I definitely need a break now. Can't again go watch a obscure movie a week for more than a year from 2-3 months again. Lots of great classics to catch up and this cup hinders that . So I'd appreciate if we have a longer break this time. In the meantime we can have smaller tournament based on genres or regions like.

This WC started in Jan-16 and ended in Mar-17.. I guess we can follow the same time line hereafter, like the next cup from Jan-18 to Mar-19 and so on..

I'm in for a comedy cup but no country-related one. Just film against film.

I'd love to see another 48 films in the WC even if that requires a little break, with all genres included.

Don't know how this will work. If it's not country-related, how do we select movies? And who proceeds to the next round if it's not a country? Just a manager?

I'm also a bit tired. As a matter of fact I was considering resigning from management for the next cup if it was to start right away. I hope the next edition is shorter. And I don't think I would be very interested in that small in-between genre tournament (that you could name appropriately enough Spring Break Cup) either.

Congrats sorti!  A most deserved victory it was. Like I said before every movie you chosen I favorited

I'm also for a break and not starting again till after the summer. I'm also for a genre cup; meaning that every round is a different pre-estabilished genre, not the whole cup one genre only. I'm totally against non-country cup, then it's just random movies agains each other. We could after the 3rd place match start a preperations topic to discuss this all, and a sign-up topic so managers have some months to prepare for the next Cup.

I'm all for a break.

Personally, if we did a smaller competition, i'd rather something like a single continent than single genre:

e.g. S.America. You could have 12 countries (Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Venezuela, Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador + Mexico & Cuba). 4 groups of 3, winners go through to semi-finals + final. would be an 18 film tournament so not quite so daunting.

or Asia, maybe a 16 country tournament with straight KOs (16+8+4+2 = 30 films total)

--

or another idea I had for next full world cup would be to limit to 21st century films. That would even out some of the advantage that countries with loads of established canon classics have..

I agree to the notion of a bit of a break until the next edition. Both seasons were fun, but I have a big backlog and a huge watchlist that also cries for attention and is jeaulous of the world cup films.

In general I like the idea of smaller region specific or genre cups, but also not right now. For myself, I want a bit of downtime and no "scheduled" films that I have to watch to certain deadlines for a while.

Also, congratulations to the victor, and thanks a lot to Joachim for doing most of the work and putting in so much effort to make this all happen. It is really appreciated. (l)
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

I like the idea for a smaller Cup with a region, especially with just KO matches. I also like the idea for a limit to 21st century films, maybe we could set this limit for one round. Since on the other hand part of the appeal of the WC is to discover hidden gems from yesteryears.

I do mean I like to do this in a few months time or after the summer, not straight away.

What about something like this:
An Asia Cup, 16 countries, only knock-out matches with fixed "genres".
First round = 21st century
Quarter Finals = comedy
Semi Finals = crime
Finals = drama
