I didn't think Marienbad had a chance. The arthouse scene is not as strong here as it once was, though I still hoped it would do a little better. What is interesting is that it hit at least twice as many number 1 votes as any other film, with about 20% of voters with ranked ballots thinking it was the best of the year, and it was still not enough to place in the top 3.

What is interesting is that it hit at least twice as many number 1 votes as any other film, with about 20% of voters with ranked ballots thinking it was the best of the year, and it was still not enough to place in the top 3.

Absolutely. It has the (very awkwardly) striking number of 14.88 points per voter, out of 25.

Still a very European Top 10 / 15.

It's also very nice to discover films I've never heard of, in this case A Dance in the Rain, The Exiles and Cash on Demand, which I'll try to see. So thanks to all the voters for the inspiration.
