iCM Forum's Favorite Films of 2020s (so far)
Nominations
Image

The 2020s: the decade that we all will remember as the one that started with the COVID pandemic. Also the decade of Barbenheimer: two defining movies of the decade or a hype? That is one of the issues we will find out in this poll. Among with of course which movies our favorite movies of the current decade so far are.

Deadline = 31 October 2023
  • Nominees must be from 2020 - 2023 (According to IMDb, which means the year in brackets next to the title, not the release-date in your country.)*
  • Shorts, mini-series and TV-episodes from anthology series where the episodes are unrelated, are allowed. Tv-series aren't allowed.*
*Imdb will be leading in this, but if you have good arguments exceptions to the rule can be made in consultation
  • Imdb-lists or iCM-lists are accepted. (If you can't make one of those, ask another user to help you out.)
  • Lists can be any length.
  • Each nominee can only be named once (of course)
  • Lists can be ranked or unranked or partially-ranked In a partially-ranked list, the top X films are ranked and everything after that point is unranked. When not specified I will consider a list as ranked.

Some help:
2020s movies you rated on imdb
2020s movies on a imdb list (replace XXXX with the list id)

Top 3 ranked, rest unranked.

I've seen 155 movies from this decade. Enough to select 20 movies I rated 8/10 or higher.

I'll keep it at 15 (ranked) films, not on my decade so far ...

I was contemplating how long this list should be given how early we will are in the 2020s, and did consider submitting a short list. However, as I have seen more than 100 films id consider great from the decade already, why not go for that nice classic number:

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls521405063/

The top 20 are favourites.

Still needs work. Though I'm pretty sure about my top 5.

1. Les cinq diables (2022)
2. As bestas (2022)
3. Nope (2022)
4. Scare Me (2020)
5. Poulet frites (2021)

Seeing the IMDB scores for both I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020) & Benedetta (2021) I'm utterly shocked :folded:

Good day Sir. Since your comment will be used by some to prove how brainless IMDb's userbase is and I'm programmed to defend the website, here's two things:
- Both films have a 3.5 score on Letterboxd, the artsier crowd, which is just merely better: Thinking / Bene
- And while Thinking has a fine 82% score on RT, the audience rating there is even rotten. And you know what? ICM shows 180 likes versus 50 dislikes for this film. Beside the Netflix effect, where more people will give this movie a try to whom it will not speak (or: it will SPEAK and TALK an awful lot :ph43r: ), this movie is just rather divisive. As a diehard Charlie Kaufman admirer, I was disappointed, too, so.

Your 3 & 4 (The Father & Banshees) are two absolutely undisputed favorites of basically everyone, hard to even find a not-great rating for those, anywhere. :D
