Voting Rules:
- You must watch all 5 films before you vote.
- To vote, rank the 5 films from most favorite to least favorite. (note: you're ranking the individual films, not the countries)

Voting deadline = Jun 11th
Countdown till deadline

The countries that end at 1st and 2nd place proceed to the next round. The ranking of the match will be decided using these rules:
- Ranked by highest average ranking (= lowest number).
- In case of a tie between two movies, head-to-head determines the winner (how many people thought A>B and how many thought B>A).
- In case there's still a tie after the previous rule or there is a tie between more than two movies, most #1-votes determines the winner.
- Still a tie? Fewest #5-votes determines the winner.
- Still a tie? The match will have a 3 day extension (except when the tie is below #2).
Here's a quick summary of how the tournament works
We start with 40 films from 40 countries. Each country has a manager who determines which movie will be watched. In the first round the countries are divided into 8 groups of 5. From each group the countries that end up at #1 and #2 proceed to the next round. In the 2nd round the 16 remaining countries will be divided into 8 matches of 2. The managers pick a new movie. The winner of each match proceeds to the next round. This continues till the final.

There are two versions of Mogholha, one B&W and one coloured. There's also a bit of difference in scenes if I remember correctly (been over a decade that I participated on subs for both versions).

OK will have to watch both then for a check

Roger, Australia needs a more conventional "squad" in order to compete in this matchup
he or A. or Armo or any

Yeah, it will most likely prove to be a failure of a pick on my part. I was captivated by the observation and the primal energy to the film's retreat from modernity. The cuts are somewhat jarring (and stood out more to me upon a rewatch last month) but I found it rather a profound and memorable piece of film-making.

I should perhaps have gone with something ''easier'', but we'll see whether this one can pick up any new fans.
That's all, folks!

This was the only group from which I had seen 3/5 films before the WC began. Of my new viewings, The Mongols totally went over my head, but I really liked Turnaround. I can understand why it is divisive though as it reminded me a lot of Michael Snow and I love Snow, but I know that a lot of folks don't.

Thanks to all the managers for their picks this round. Best of luck everyone.

Watching Animals Are Beautiful People I constantly thought the voice sounded extremely familiar. When the part of the bushmen came, I instantly knew. It's the same narrator as in The Gods Must Be Crazy, which I watched tons of times as a kid. During this part of the movie I expected Xi to make his entrance.

I believe Jamie Uys is a Boer. Which makes me question is there any kind of connection, and to which extent, of the Dutch and the Boer people TODAY.

had seen the two best before, the Field last weekend, and the two worst today... :)

The experimental movie wasn't bad, but didn't do much for me... felt a new age influence that always rings a bit hollow to me
The nature doc had a lot of images that were very familiar to me, I must have seen this as a child! I used to love nature documentaries back then, but I have soured on them, and this film turned out to be the best/worst example of why: putting sound effects under the scenes, projecting human emotions on animals (some of them presumed to be cowardly, proud, ecstatic... really stupid) and on top of all that they really cross the line here by burning down a big birds nest (this was very clear to me) and getting animals drunk (I didn't pick up on this myself, but read it in a few reviews). Those annoyances where the only thing to jump out to me while watching, none of the humorous narration was funny. Granted, some of the images are still great, and I can't say that it is badly put together (not sure if I like the obvious editting of movement to music or not), but it is not a movie to champion, at all.
The Field was fine. Good actors, nice scenery, the drama was a bit too obvious/stagy for my taste, but nothing to really complain about.
