Some great new entries already and I'm glad I voted for three of them. I'm also very surprised that Event Horizon wasn't in the previous editions. I thought it was a well-regarded cult classic.

I think it has developed into a "cult classic" as you say - but it did not get good reviews when it came out, was a flop, is from a director who is generally considered a terrible hack, and there are certainly plenty of people (and I'm one of them) who consider it complete garbage. So congrats on getting this piece of shit flick :D onto the list!

I don't hate it that much, but I am kind of baffled by its cult status. I've tried to understand why, especially when I see it frequently mentioned by people who will add "and I don't like horror movies", and the violent content combined with a barely coherent/logical story are primary reasons for a person to Not like Horror. I usually write it off as a pick by someone who hasn't seen a lot of horror, but that's clearly not Silga, Melvelet or Torgo.

Silga wrote: December 3rd, 2022, 6:12 pm Some great new entries already and I'm glad I voted for three of them.
Event Horizon is a movie I really enjoyed with friends back in the early&mid 00s. I hadn't seen too many horror films back then, granted. In my memory it was just great, evil space horror (which I seemed to enjoy more than others recently with Life (2017), again!). I was a bit surprised one day to find out EH's IMDb score was below 7.0 and then I saw WHO on earth made it, oh my.
So maybe I should reexamine it one day .. I don't treat or perceive it as super-cult or hidden gem type of movie, though.

I saw it in 2015 so well beyond it's initial release, and probably somewhat into the period where it's been getting re-evaluated. The RLM guys did a review a year ago

I think they liked it more than I did, or at least Jay did, but I don't recall now. Anyway it's one of those films where I was probably waging an internal battle as to whether I could enjoy it for it's stupid silliness, or be angered by it's stupid silliness. I have this issue a lot with SF films I guess, and maybe ones that merge with horror more than most. I remember it reminded me of Sunshine which I HATED so that was a problem for sure. Otherwise I've pretty much forgotten it now. I have it rated a 4, which is pretty low for me (think well below 1 on the Onderhond scale).
It was the truth, vivid and monstrous, that all the while he had waited the wait was itself his portion..

WOW! Great inclusion. My definition of Horror extends far into certain Thrillers and Mysteries, but I figured this would never appear because it's not strictly Horror.

Is it possible the rankings for past polls are a little messed up?

It seems strange, for example, that Psycho II never got a single vote in any previous edition of this poll but got 12 votes for this edition.

Or does NA in this case just mean that a movie didn't make the top 250 in a prior poll even if it still received votes?
