Complete Top 4 have been IMDb'd, good job guys :woot:

Wow, must be one of my most-seen poll years so far, 62/95, with only Lisboa missing in the Top 30. But how would I know it? It's a film with 26 votes on IMDb .. :ph43r:
I expected Inside Job way higher.
LOL @Captain Alex getting in

Thanks for everyone who made the final listing of I'm Here possible

Even outside the top 4, this is generally one of our most American (and generally English language) heavy yearly poll, interesting. Love that Black Swan won, at any rate, and nice to see Exit Through the Gift Shop doing so well too.

Thanks Rufus for the poll

Thanks Rufus!

As I said in the nominations thread, I expected this to be one of the less pleasing results for me, and so it turned out to be. I dislike the top 2 - I don't know that that's happened in any of these yearly polls - and two more in the top twenty; and I'm mystified at all you Europeans' love for my country's cinema for the year - for me it's one of the weakest years for American film of the past 50 or more. I only had three American films in my top 20 and I only felt *really* strongly about one of them. So while I'm not exactly in Onderhond territory wrt to the poll results, this might be as close to it as I come. :o

I've seen 30 of the top 35 (highest unseen: Another Year) but only 15 out of everything after that. I'm sure there are many treasures from the year left to see...outside of Hollywood, anyway.
It was the truth, vivid and monstrous, that all the while he had waited the wait was itself his portion..

OTOH, I very much liked these results. 16 of my top 17 made the top 24. I don't think I've ever had that high a success rate.

ICM FORUM'S FAVORITE FILMS FROM 2010

RANK FILM (2010 year-end poll ranking) DIRECTOR(S) POINTS MENTIONS HIGHEST RANKING IMDb VOTES POSTER(S) WHO RANKED #1 LINK
66 I'm Here Spike Jonze 41 3 3 7,736 :imdb:
Noticed the asterisk for the first time.
Does I'm Here warrant one at 31 minutes? (Maybe you operate with another rule for feature length, I don't know)

Man, this original poll:
The Town (12)
Hereafter (19)
Animal Kingdom (17)
How to Train Your Dragon (15)

But they got Scott Pilgrim right(er), just 1 rank short of the Top 10 instead of the Top 20. :shifty:

The HUGE critical acclaim of Winter's Bone is something I never understood, not to this extent. I felt like seeing similar material around 2010 every now and then. But I wish a warm welcome to J-Law ..

Certainly as far as the yearly polls go, yeah. For the record, his previous placements in the top 50:
4th in 2008 (The Dark Knight)
5th in 2017 (Dunkirk)
9th in 2005 (Batman Begins)
14th in 2006 (The Prestige)
37th in 1998 (Following)
38th in 2020 (Tenet)

I'd wager his main shots at the #1 spot would be 2000 (Memento) and 2014 (Interstellar).

2014 maybe, wouldn’t 2000 be In the Mood for Love?

Yeah, I wasn't particularly thinking of the competition, I'd be quite surprised if Memento beat In the Mood for Love. 2014 seems more open, with the other main contenders being Grand Budapest Hotel, Whiplash and Birdman.

Very American results as expected, and I can't really complain given how many were on my own list. Great to see the near universal acclaim for Black Swan!

Only seen 59/96, so quite a few to go. My top 5 being:

19. Mysteries of Lisbon (I'm frustrated that I watched Dulac's serial Gossette before this last month ... I really have no excuse here)
23. Carlos (another mini-series, lower of my radar despite liking Assayas)
26. In a Better World (yet to see a film by Bier)
34. Senna (Meant to see this when it came out, but has drifted out of my mind since, would be a priority of I explore the year further, but sports documentaries are usually not something I'm that interested in)
36. Tuesday, After Christmas (Romanian New Wave - should make this a bigger priority!)

Films I should make a point of seeing:

My Joy (Loznitsa is a director I really need to see more from in general)
Aurora (Romanian New Wave - Completely forgot about this one, like with Tuesday, After Christmas, I should make this a bigger priority)
Submarine (Been on my radar forever)

That number is total films nominated, not just those that made the final Top 95. Otherwise, USA wouldn't have 117 films mentioned. ;)

Ah, then I would like to see those other 8 titles, if possible.

There is a theatrical cut as well, but the full mini-series is superior.

This is the only year by year poll so far where I’ve seen the entire top 20 😮

ICM FORUM'S FAVORITE FILMS FROM 2010

66 I'm Here Spike Jonze 41 3 3 7,736 :imdb:
Noticed the asterisk for the first time.
Does I'm Here warrant one at 31 minutes? (Maybe you operate with another rule for feature length, I don't know)
You are right. That was overlooked. Fixed.

Actually there are only 2 Spanish films in the list: 'Balada triste de trompeta' and 'Pa negre'. Two good ones.

Thanks, Rufus.
That number is total films nominated, not just those that made the final Top 95. Otherwise, USA wouldn't have 117 films mentioned. ;)
Ah, then I would like to see those other 8 titles, if possible.
Yes, the country breakdown is for all 371 voted films. I find that break down very interesting especially for the international constituency in this forum.

The 10 voted titles from Spain are

The Last Circus / Balada triste de trompeta (Álex de la Iglesia)
Black Bread / Pa negre (Agustí Villaronga)
Finisterrae (Sergio Caballero)
Even the Rain / También la lluvi (Icíar Bollaín)
Kidnapped / Secuestrados (Miguel Angel Vivas)
Julia's Eyes / Los ojos de Julia (Guillem Morales)
Room in Rome / Habitación en Roma (Julio Medem)
Every Song Is About Me / Todas las canciones hablan de mí (Jonás Trueba)
Chico & Rita (Javier Mariscal, Tono Errando, Fernando Trueba)
Buried (Rodrigo Cortés)

I've voted for Buried, for example, although a film distributed by Warner Bros. that's basically just Ryan Reynolds in every frame didn't strike me as very Spain ..

This is a weak year, especially for non-english language cinema as some have noted already. it of course is very well possible some of these films never attracted much attention and didn't reach western audiences. Worth to note that outside of the Cannes winner, the festival winners didn't turn out to be very memorable in the long run either with weak positions. The winner of Berlin didn't even made the top 100 (and I personally never even heard of that film title).

This is one of the few years where the best films of the year all were nominated on Academy Awards it seems. For me personally, Black Swan clearly is the rightful winner, destroying all competition for me personally in that year. Usually i have a harder time picking a n°1.

Seen 30/95

Thanks for this poll!

53 ranked participants. The last place voted films for 20 of them no other participants voted. So the last 20 titles in the full list have only 1 point.

Torgo wrote: October 2nd, 2022, 6:49 pmBut how would I know it? It's a film with 26 votes on IMDb .. :ph43r:
There are 3,555 votes on IMDb for the main listing, which used to be the only listing, https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1236371/. It was one of the most talked about productions of the year back in the day, on forums for film buffs obviously, not in the workplace canteens...
