iCM Forum's Favorite Movies of the 1980s
2nd Edition

:circle: Results :circle:

The 1980s; the decade many of us were born. It was the decade of the end of the Cold War and rise of laissez-faire capitalism, glasnost and perestroika, Reagan and Thatcher, Michael Jackson and Madonna, greed and coke, MTV and Ninja Turtles, AIDS and Live Aid, Nintendo and IBM, the mullet and shoulder pads, the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Tiananmen Square protests. Plus many more wars, elections, coups, crises, trends, disasters, deaths, births, sport matches, inventions, etc. Which can't all be mentioned in this very brief recap, that isn't meant as a comprehensive nuanced history lesson on the 1980s, but as an OP to introduce our favorite movies from the 1980s (again).

List length last time is 250 and half-life 50.

Please feel free to discuss the list, the films, and any entries that you're happy or unhappy about, whether you submitted a list or not, but please try to be courteous when doing so. When quoting a post with images it's best if you remove the image unless it's directly relevant to what you're posting.

Results! Disappointed that I ran out of time to expand my list, but still looking forward to how things shake out.

Interesting, so far I've seen everything (though my memories of Another Woman and The Dead are particularly dim) - rare for the first dozen in any poll results for me. Only would have likely voted for three though, and only one of those (Henry) would have been high on my list.

These results will be interesting. I did remember to vote but just barely, so there's almost certainly some stuff I've seen in the last few months that would have made the cut if I had time for revisions.

I'm surprised that Son of the White Mare went down, even if only a little. It got restored and became way more widely available in the English-speaking world since the last time we had this poll. Oh well, still made the list.

Looks like once again I voted for the wrong version of a Bergman masterpiece.
Or is this the wrong version and the other cut is coming up?

This is the tv version. The movie version (which came out in 1982 and is on 24 official lists) will probably come later in the countdown.

This is the best version, so you def voted for the wrong version ;)

But yes, I don't think it is much of a spoiler to tell that the other version, that isn't new, still has to show up.
