iCM Forum's Favorite Movies of the 1970s
2nd Edition

Results
Image

The 1970s were a decade in the last century. A lot of stuff happened then. There were wars, elections, uprisings, crises and scandals. People were born and died. Sport matches were won and lost. Things were invented. Trends came and went. Amidst all of this people also made movies. Some great, some terrible and everything in between. In 2015 for the first time we chose which movies from the 1970s we most dig. Now we did so again

Please feel free to discuss the list, the films, and any entries that you're happy or unhappy about, whether you submitted a list or not, but please try to be courteous when doing so. When quoting a post with images it's best if you remove the image unless it's directly relevant to what you're posting.

Since the previous list is a top 250, this one is too. Half-life is set as well for this reason.
Scoring for ranked lists: Half-life = 50
Scoring for unranked lists: Every film on your list receives the same number of points (the average of what they would have received if your list was ranked).

Very happy that my ballot helped these two amazing films to make the cut. Surprised that I'm the only one of the Talking Images crew to have voted for Death on the Nile though.

I enjoyed Death on the Nile but didn't feel strongly enough about it to include in my list of favourites. Quite happy to see it still made the lower part of the list though.

Death on the Nile is a movie that's very close to making my list. It's just below my cut-off.

No crew member, but thanks for the support.
I love the chemistry between Sir Peter Ustinov and David Niven... my favorite Agatha Christie film. Always wondering that it's not official.

Murder Mysteries is definitely one of the biggest gaps on iCM. It would also be nice to have a British list that focused more on 70s cinema. Any list-mods reading this?

I wonder if Death on the Nile will end up being the second highest ranked film on zero Official Lists. One of only two so far...

I always have the same reaction with certain Agatha Christie classics and the like.
"Murder mystery" would be such a nice list; these are terribly popular in Germany and are just called "Krimi" here, crime films in their literal meaning, but then the only crime is murdering people without the audience having a guess whodunit and why, right?
Big overlap with "detective films" probably, so one has to watch out it's not only just 70% film-noir. Otherwise this would make such a cool, enjoyable, official Top 50 (or 75-100) list which will be very cinepleb-friendly.

 Decade lists are too much trouble for me. Enjoying watching the results though - so far I've seen less than half of the choices, which means that many of them would probably have dropped off had I voted. Sometimes it's better to see what a list looks like without one's participation I think.

Murder Mysteries is definitely one of the biggest gaps on iCM.

This might be a nice future Official List (more Agatha Christie type stuff than noir overlap): https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/mari ... e/lu-chin/

I saw quite a few krimi films myself during last year's German's Challenge. Most have blurred in my mind (fairly interchangeable; sorry). Seems I liked The White Spider the best of the bunch that I viewed.

So this happens when OldAle doesn't participate ..
 Decade lists are too much trouble for me.
To me decade lists are the easiest to make. Clear cut-off in years and just ranking them according to how much I overal love them without any other factors.
