Thanks, OldAle.
I try not to nominate shorts for such polls, but More is too great to omit.

I was going to watch more 1998 films before the deadline, but I ran out of steam late last month, so I only managed 3 (and none of them made my list - The Mask of Zorro, Carícies [Caresses], and You've Got Mail). I was planning for Saving Private Ryan to be my 6,000th check, but I'm still 3 checks away from that and I don't feel like binging a bunch of shorts and then watching a 3-hour war epic tonight. I'll watch it this weekend, though, when I'm in the right frame of mind and not as tired. Besides, it doesn't need my help to make the final list (I'm guessing a top 10 placement, maybe top 5?), and I like all the films on my list and don't want to bump them off.

Honorable mention to The Truman Show, which I knocked off so I could include my favourite short from this year, Home, but I really need to rewatch it because I think I'll like it a lot more this time around (and it's another film that won't need my help here). Special mentions to Valgaften [Election Night] and More, my next two favourite shorts.

Like most, I didn't get to watch / re-watch as much as I would've liked, and the majority of these rankings are based on memories of not having seen the film in ten plus years, but I'm still mostly fine with how this list turned out.

1. The Thin Red Line (Terence Malick)
2. Sokout / The Silence (Mohsen Makhmalbaf)
3. Bunny (Chris Wedge)
4. Beloved (Jonathan Demme)
5. Babe: Pig in the City (George Miller)
6. The Prince of Egypt (DreamWorks Animation Studios)
7. The Mask of Zorro (Martin Campbell)
8. The Horse Whisperer (Robert Redford)
9. The Truman Show (Peter Weir)
10. The Big Lebowski (Joel & Ethan Coen)

11. Saving Private Ryan (Steven Spielberg)
12. Festen / The Celebration (Thomas Vinterberg)
13. Palwolui Keuriseumaseu / Christmas in August (Jin-ho Hur)
14. Rushmore (Wes Anderson)
15. Velvet Goldmine (Todd Haynes)
16. Pleasantville (Gary Ross)
