It's close though. I've seen better movies than (500) Days of Summer, esp. in it's genre, and it's a bit of a hipster elite film, but not really a fan of the Bourne Identity either. In fact, (500) Days of Summer would beat Fellowship of the Ring, Unbreakable and Monsters Inc. too despite only having a 6/10...

Just vote according to your feeling, perceptions can change so you like TWBB more than Monsters Inc. Simple. Ratings are only ratings...

I have given movies 1/10 that I now sort of like. I think that's the case of Mother! and Swiss Army Men. The feeling i got during the film was confronting and unfamiliar. It wasn't enjoyable, but i've learnt to deal with that feeling. Sooner or later i'll rewatch them, but Mother! has 5/10 and Swiss Army Men 6/10. Movies also sometimes make a reversed direction. One example is Hard Candy. It was a thrilling movie i enjoyed but I hated the moral and only realized it later. I found it quite offensive. I gave it 9/10. One month later, it only has a 6/10. I suspect it's still too high.

A good movie is like a bottle of wine. Sometimes it needs to sink a bit before you realize the greatness. Sometimes it'll take years and multiple views. It's not exact science. Ratings do not reflect whether I like a movie or not. They just are temporary indicators that guide me, but aren't always accurate because it's impossible to transition a feeling to a number.

I tend to get stuck to my original rating mostly because I don't rewatch movies that often (with so many unseen movies out there..)

Sad for Up which is one of my favourite Pixar animations (mostly for the famous 5-minute sequence) but glad that Hot Fuzz came around.

It's competing against Hotel Rwanda. Wake up, people!

Well, that's just like your opinion man. Mine is that we VASTLY OVER-estimate Refn, and while Drive is the best of the three films I've seen from him, it's still not a film I'd want to see again. I actually forgot that I'd seen Hotel Rwanda and so didn't vote in that matchup; I have both films rated the same but might've picked the Refn just because I do remember it at least (though to be fair it came out years later and I saw both films once, new). But it certainly wouldn't fare well in most potential matchups to come for me, and I certainly have little interest in following his career any further. None of the films I've seen from him would even be in the top half of the films I've seen from their individual years.

But that's what makes this fun.
