I probably had some directors on my "missing" list because their first feature was directed by two people. Then Excel didn't catch those.

Another batch in the first tab. Over 2700 directors now.

I may go back and add more before the deadline, but wanted to get something down in case I don't have the time or energy.

I rebuilt the lists by taking everything from the first tab in Ferge's spreadsheet and what was before on the IMDb and iCM lists, removing all duplicates and non-debuts, and re-added them to the IMDb and iCM lists. So they should be totally up to date and corrected now.
Also added a few from the RtD challenge:
Ti West : The Roost (2005)
Patrick Brice: Creep (I) (2014)
Herbert Achternbusch: Das Andechser Gefühl (1974)
Joe Begos: Almost Human (2013)
Alexander Payne: The Passion of Martin (1991)
Roberta Findlay: Take Me Naked (1966)
John Polonia, Mark Polonia, Todd Michael Smith : Church of the Damned (1985)
John McNaughton: Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986)
John Amero, Michael Findlay: Body of a Female (1964)

Yeah, you’re right. Or Dealers in Death, other sites state that as his first. But can’t figure out which of the two. Or if there even is a difference and those three first film on IMDb are just the same movie under different titles.Fergenaprido wrote: ↑February 17th, 2021, 12:00 amAdded everything and fixed the mistakes you flagged in the spreadsheet. Those first three do all seem like different cuts of the same film, or at least two of them do. Hollywood Crime Wave seems to be the original, but I'm not sure.

Because this poll takes much more effort to make a list, both for the participants as well as for Ferge and me to improve (is it ever really finished?) the IMDb/iCM list, I'm going to extend the deadline. With at least two weeks. NEW DEADLINE = 12 MARCH
My goal is to have this results thread done before the 1001 Favs Results thread does kick off. So possibly it will be extended even more, depending on when the deadline for that poll is.

Circling back to these, Paris-Cinéma is 39 minutes, and Koko dai panikku is 17 minutes, so I don't think they should count.Lonewolf2003 wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2021, 7:11 pm Also added a few from the RtD Challenge:

Jerzy Skolimowski: Rysopis tt0059668
For Skolomowski, Rysopis came out in Semaine de la critique at Cannes, while Walkover came out in the main festival at Cannes. There are no dates on imdb (just month of release, May 1965 for both), but I thought the main festival came first, and then the semaine came after? Thus, I have Walkover as the debut. Walkover also had the earlier debut in Poland, by a few months.
Added.
You're thinking of the original short film on which the feature film of the same name was based. The imdb id listed above is correct.

According to morrison-dylan-fan who watched Paris-Cinéma for the RtD the run time on IMDb is incorrect and the movie is 50 min long.Fergenaprido wrote: ↑March 1st, 2021, 8:21 pmCircling back to these, Paris-Cinéma is 39 minutes, and Koko dai panikku is 17 minutes, so I don't think they should count.Lonewolf2003 wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2021, 7:11 pm Also added a few from the RtD Challenge:

As zomgmouse says I mean the feature not the short with the same name. There is a reason why I didn't go with Hachijyu-Hachi-Man Bun no Ichi no Kodoku instead, that came between the short and feature, but can't remember what it is. Probably something about it either not being widely released or questions about the runtime on IMDb being incorrect.
For Skolomowski it's indeed a hard call, but I went with Rysopis, cause wiki and some other sources I can't remember now called that his first feature.

For Skolimowski, I've added Rysopis with a note (and kept Walkover in for now).
For Ishii, that's odd. KG has it and calls it his second film (and lists it as 1978 instead of 1977), but Berlinale calls it a 1977 film, and all sources consider the runtime to be 43 minutes.

Please let me know of any errors or glaring omissions. I will likely update the spreadsheet one more time before the deadline, primarily as I create my own list. I'll post here and in the other thread when I do so. 4100 or so directors are listed.

I found an error in my spreadsheet:
The Vanderhoff Affair (1915) was wrongly included as a debut feature, (icm) for Robert G. Vignola, but I already had him debuting with The Hazards of Helen (1914).

I found the following differences between your list and the OP-list. Cause the OP list have been updated and adjusted because of new insights since your post. I will consider this one ineligible, unless you have a good argument why they should be considered a debut feature. You can of course change or delete these titles from your list if you want.
Samuel Maoz > Your title: Lebanon. Debut according the OP list: Total Eclipse
Fantasia I will allow, although we do list others movies for those directors since it's an anthology and not the work of a single (or a duo/trio) directors overseeing everything. These are the films listed for those directors:
James Algar > The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
Ford Beebe Jr. > Joniko and the Kush Ta Ka
Norman Ferguson > Pinocchio
David Hand > Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
T. Hee > Pinocchio
Wilfred Jackson > Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Hamilton Luske > Pinocchio
Bill Roberts > Pinocchio
