First post updated. Extended the deadline to Saturday while I prep some things and spend some time with my family.

Thanks for the extension to this, PA. I'm spending this evening watching films but was going to put together a pared-down list later tonight. This deadline will give me the time I would like to spend on it!
That's all, folks!

Here you go: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls053073641/ (ranked)

I altered it a good bit from last year. I think this marks the first time Riefenstahl is not my favourite female director.

All of the methodologies strike me as reasonable, but I still have a dilemma: what to do with directors like Fellini and Godard, whose early work (through La Dolce Vita and New Wave, respectively) would land them very high on my list, but I wouldn't even consider ranking based on their work after those points. Out of curiosity, what are others doing in these cases (whether the same directors or others who they evaluate in similar ways)?
I personally just consider their work as a whole. I happen to like Godard a lot in general but even if I wouldn't like his post '67 work, I feel that he has made practically an entire career worth of films in the 60's already so I wouldn't slam him extremely much over his later work (but then again, I even have late Godard making my favourites list). Ridley Scot is a good example for me. I think Blade Runner is fantastic and Alien and Thelma and Louise are great films, however I think everything he's done since Gladiator (that one included) features some of the most bland, boring and soulless direction I've ever seen so he's not on my list at all (Robin Hood and Prometheus are probably the best he's done since the early 90's). Fellini I took down a lot this time around because I realized the rest of his oeuvre can't keep up with La Dolce Vita and 8 1/2. I still have a few films left I'd like to watch. If one of them floors me I would reconsider. So for me the question is wheter the director in question was just a blind chicken who got lucky once or twice or if they actually have an extensive body of work that is very good and then just sort of lost it. Also it helps if among their later films there's still a few good ones that show that the early ones weren't just an accident. Fellini has Amarcord at least for instance.

Here's my updated list, ranked: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls073195234/

Also, for the Russo Brothers, I selected Anthony Russo instead of Joe.

I've decided to go with an unranked list this time around: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls047651709/

Thanks for doing this, PA!

Results will start in a couple of days, either Saturday or Sunday. I've been finding little pieces of time in the week but not as much as I expected.

I've added Stole Popov, John Krish and Kudret Güneş to my list to bring it up to 230 directors (and directing teams). Still unranked in its entirety.

Probably too late but I added a couple of directors to my list: Charles Burnett and Melvin Van Peebles. Still unranked.

I'm worried about Peaceful. Sent a private message to check how he was going 48 hours ago. No response. No recent activity on here or iCM either.

It's worrisome indeed. Maybe some of the fellow-mods know more about his situation.

I'm sorry I fucked up big time.
I'm busy right now but I'll post tonight. Mostly making this post to commit myself to actually writing tonight and not continually procrastinating.
I'm ok, just really really not managing my time well at all and one day turned into a week turned into a month and I don't really get it but I can't keep pretending I have a handle on myself.

Hi PA, great to have you back and don't worry. This is still just a film-forum (btw a great one;)). So if There is serious stuff in real life, its defnetly more important.

Whew! PA, a lot of people here were worried you were gravely ill or in an accident. I think we're all very relieved to hear you're OK. Please take as much time as you need.

LOL, I'm glad you guys are understanding. I certainly don't feel I deserve to be excused for fucking up. I wrote a whole bunch of stuff that I may or may not post after I sleep on it, but anyway, for my own mental health I'm going to lie to myself, pretend this didn't happen and get a plan for getting this done and myself back on track. I also need to work on making sure it doesn't happen again, but focusing on that right now is probably a distraction (I do have a plan for that, though, and it's not just hope or some long term eventually thing).

I've downloaded the lists, I will calculate the results tomorrow morning. I will try to get the presentation on track but if I stumble I will still start posting results on Wed and go from there.

Echoing everyone else, just happy that you're okay, PA. I was really beginning to think that we had permanently lost you. :ermm:

Crazy stuff always happens in real life; no need to pressure yourself into meeting any deadlines that we (or you) place. :)

Yeah, I'm also very glad to see a sign of life from you PA. Was getting worried. You being online again, is way more important than when the results are revealed.
